Question about Nikon Coolpix 4600 Digital Camera

Downloading pictures from Nikon Coolpix 4600

When I try to download pictures I get a message that there are no new pictures on my camera (but there are new pictures). When I unplug the camera from the USB port the only way to turn it off is to remove the batteries. This is a new problem. Last week I had not problems downloading pictures. I am using Windows VISTA.

I have exactly the same problem. Also using Vista. But I have downloaded pictures before via the same download cable, the same software, and via Vista. Problem occurred today for the first time.

Yup. Me too. Everything works fine on my laptop that runs Windows XP. I cannot download pictures off of my Coolpix L1 onto my other laptop running Vista.

Hi, Pity you aren't using Apple Mac OSX. All I can suggest is that you re-boot the camera whilst you are plugged into the USB. ie turn the camera off then on.  If that doesn't work then unplug the usb and reinsert. If all that doesn't work then use some other device such as a SD card reader that allows you to access the contents read by the computer.  The more I type the more I am suspect this is a Vista driver issue. So try to circumvent the camera being plugged and instead just use an adapter that allows your computer to read an SD card. These things are readily available at prices between $20 & $30 -  or possibly you might have one as part of your printer.

I had the "cannot use card" message. I tired

Are you formatting the card(s) in the camera AND ejecting the card before removing them from the computer. If you formatted the memory card in the computer the camera programing can not recolonize it. A new card right out of the package should be formatted in the camera it is to be used in. Some of my students are in a hurry and forget to eject they just unplug it and run, it can really make a mess of things. My suggestion is try and format the card a couple of times, it should come back to the camera and work for you.

Canon Powershot G7 digital camera

A friend suggested I uninstall the digital camera solution disk and then reinstall it. I did so and although my computer seemed to crash once it was restarted after turning it off and back on and getting a blue screen from microsoft stating I had to start it manually everything worked out. I am so thankful. I got about 100 pictures downloaded and stored into the appropriate album. Thank you for your concern.

Canon zoombrowser Ex downloading problem

The sd1000 manual says that you will get this error when you have too many pictures on your memory card (aprox 1000). I am not sure how many I had on my 2GB card but it was a lot. I deleted about 50 - 100 pictures and then it started working again and the new pictures downloaded to the computer.

If the new 512mb xD card has a prefix of "H" or "M" before the 512, it is not compatable with your A330 unless a firmware upgrade is performed on the camera. You can download all the details here
