When we hook up my sons DVD in our vehicle it will play for about 2 min. then the screen goes black, its worked fine up till now, although we haven't used it in a few months. If I hold the mode button down it will come back on, but then after a few minutes it goes black again? I wish I had of hooked it up earlier because we leave on holidays soon. (help) Kerry

Re: screen goes black
It may be a failure in the controler section in the player. This will need service. Most likely, the cost will not be feasible for this type of repair. You will have to send it to the authorised service for the player.

Unfortuneately this problem is located on the main board inside the player, cause is in the video processor circuitry, which would require special equipment to track down the part. There is no choice but to bring it to a serviceman, cost should be a consideration.
hey 1st of all you gotta make sure that your son made tha right connections with the av cable (this is the cable with three different coloured pins) from your DVD to your tv. if this doesnt solve your problem then make sure you are using the correct av channel on your tv set that will allow you 2 play your DVD player because sometimes you cant play your DVD on thhe same av cannel you watch normal tv
no solution...the unit is junk!
I've had one for about 6 months, played about 6 DVD's, and now it won't do anything at all! neither the button son the unit nor the remote will power it up. it won't do anything except open the lid.
I had the same problem with the whole radio itself. It would play fine for about 2 mins and then it would quit and the blue backround would stay on the screen. I took it out of the wall and took the fuse out and put a new one in. It played fine for about 2 mins and then the same thing happened. The fuse was still good. Phoned the dealer and switched the radio. works fine now.
I had the same problem but I solved buying "Laser Lens Cleaner " Philips Magnavox after 3 attempts the DVD starts to work fine again. First only 3 min, then 10 min and now the entire CD cleaner and after I left the CD cleaner for 15 min I tried to play the DVD and WORKS!!! perfect!!!
It sounds like the circuitry which actuates the color drives for the screen are not working, this would ba analogous to adjusting for a B&W picture on a color TV you have color but the screen shows black and white. I would get a schematic for this set and measure the voltages on the color processor that connects to the screen since you know that the external jack has color. If possible I can help you troubleshoot this, if you need me to help out.
Depending what cables you have, try plugging only the yellow cable into "video out", I previously had red, white, and yellow cables plugged into "comopents out" and only got black and white. Doing only the yellow into video out gave me color.
