Question about Lexmark X1150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error

So I got this new printer, a nice Lexmark X5495 all-in-one, fax, scan, copy, photos, prints, all the bells & whistles, right? I install it step by step just like it tells me to do. Everything shows fine, all appears hunky dory. Go to control panel, it says ready, big happy checkmark, it's set as default printer, it's online. Just one problem, it won't print. I get this nasty message that says there's no communication between the computer and printer. I tried 3 different USB cables. I unplugged, restarted, rebooted, tried every USB port on my puter, no go. Same thing. I checked windows firewall, the Lexmark stuff is all checked as exceptions, meaning they are being allowed through. I deleted the other 2 printers from the system. I uninstalled the new printer and reinstalled it - 5 times. I just have the feeling it's something in where the USB cable is hooked up. I have 4 USB ports in the back of the puter. I have 3 in front. All the troubleshooters tell me to check the USB connections and cables, then restart. No go. Same thing. I have Windows XP Home. I have listed this problem under Lexmark X5470 cause the 5495 wasn't listed.

I've been at it for 5 hours now. I know it's something simple and stupid, but that's me - simple and stupid. Any ideas?

i am receiving the same message My printer is not communicating with my computer. control panel indicates it is on online and ready. I have disconnected, reconnected several times. What am I to do. shows printer is ready but doesn't print

I have windows vista home premium. Installed the driver from the website because the cd was for xp / 2000. It still doesn't print. I can get the all in one system to scan and copy, but when I try to print those documents, they won't go thru. I don't get an error message.....it just doesn't print. It has a check mark and says ready in the control panel. Help.

display panel does not work. power button, arrows, + - , scan print etc
The display reads close cover, it is closed.
This is actually an earlier model of the same product I believe. It is the 5200 series of which is not found on the Lexmark web site. I will never buy a Lexmark again.

Printer Lexmark X1150 has been hooked up to my old computer for years. My old computer has not been working. I got a laptop recently and installed this printer with the USB connection. Same as everyone else, It says ready, it feeds the paper, but all my documents are put on pause because there is no communication. I unplugged the Usb port and restart the computer. The computer is connected to a network and I still have nothing printing. I installed all the software properly and reinstalled, still nothing.

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Keeps telling me to enable bidirectional communication

Hi:

When you first loaded the print driver there should have been a box to check to enable bidirectional communication. Most Lexmark printers require this to work properly

Lexmark X5495 won't print of fax

There is an update to the driver available issued Feb 2009. You can go to
http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
to download it and install. You might also check the site for the latest user manual.
As far as overseas faxes, you dial as if you are dialing long distance on any phone.

Lexmark x5495

Lexmark does not allow refilled cartridge on any of their products.

Lexmark, HP and Canon and-many other vendors use proprietary code to protect themselves against the damage of OEM inks.

All companies will void warranties.

go to www.isohunt.com and download driver detective with key. Install driver detective. And let it to search for the drivers your system needs to operate any hardware. When it searches the drivers for your MFP then install it.

is the printer in its own USB port? Some printers that "talk back" to the PC do not like to share a port so do not have it on a USB HUB.

Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error

1st -make sure that the USB cable is connected on the correct port of your printer - you might be plugging it on the ports of the telephone - you got 3 ports there - 2 for the telephone ports and 1 for the USB

2nd- check your service if print spooler and lx devices are started (lexbce or lxdcu) - if not.... start it
>start >run>type services.msc > enter

3rd- if still no go - uninstall your driver and download windows vista x64 printer driver on their website
