Question about Refrigerators
The freezer fan on the model mtb1950gr refrigerator is not working. Is this a ralatively easy fix? Other forums said it was the condenser or evaporator fan and it happens often(every 2-4 years) with the Maytag's. Any advice? My freezer is wet on top and it's about 90 degrees out!

it could be out of gas...can you open the bottom rear cover and feel the air coming out of the condenser blower. if its not warm, you have a leak where refrigerant escapes...

remove the baskets and shelves in the freezer and remove the rear panels after shutting the fridge down. If you see heavy frost on the coils then the defrost model needs replaced. If not, check the that the fans runs, and then that the thermostat works and then that the damper that allows the air to the fridge compartment is opening correctly.

Hi, It sounds like the relay onyour compressor. They will smell when it goes bad. Remove the rear panel on the back of the refrigerator and see if the smell is around the compressor.
Please let me know If I can assist you further.

Turn off power. Water hose with sprayer. Soak the coil. Spray with 409 cleaner. Let it ser for about 10 minutes. Spray off coil from top down. Do not use to much pressure or it will bend the damage the fins. Bruch clean indoor coil with nylon brush. Your unit will last a lot longer. Rsuty

Please remember I am attempting to diagnose your appliance without being there and with very little information.
Sorry but if your freezer is 10 degrees, it is running warm. Freezer is designed to run between -10 and 0 degrees. Reset controls, place them in the middle of the scales. The controls can be confusing. The control that turns the unit on and off is your freezer thermostat and the other is the damper that controls the air flow from the freezer into the fresh food section. What I would think is wrong with your unit is one of two things.
2. Check to be sure you have air flow inside your fresh food section coming from your freezer. If not and your control is setting around mid-ways, you have a bad fan or your defrost heater is bad and ice is blocking the air flow.
