Setup range extender

I am trying to setup a D-Link DWL-G710 as a range extender with my wireless network. I have a 2wire HW1700 wireless modem and have tried to setup the D-Link using it but it does not let me get online to the D-Link setup wizard so I cannot even get started.

Recommendations please.

I found the solution. first reset de DWL-G710, change the ip 192.168.0.30 to 192.168.1.253 (obiously change your IP of LAN card for 192.168.1.252 example) in the G710 go to network and in the gateway put 192.168.1.254. go to wireless Site Survey, select your 2wire net, connect, select the channel of your 2wire, select your security, write your key and apply and ready to connect :D. Later but secure :)

What you need to do is connect a rj-45 cord from your pc 's lan card to the DWL-710 then set the pc ip address manually to
192.168.0.30
subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.30
DNS 192.168.0.30
then you will be able to access the DWL-710 web interface to configure your settings

Kolay gelsin.Good By

Trouble logging into a D-Link DWL-G710 Wireless

Let me try to get the info straight:

Your computers IP address (manually configured): 192.168.1.4
D-Link Range Extender IP: 192.168.0.30

If this is correct, you will need to change your IP to something like:

192.168.0.X (make sure it's not in use on your network already)

otherwise you will not be able to connect to it with your comptuer.

Range Extender DWL-G710 & Wireless N Router DIR-615

Try to configure your new router and you have to reconfigure the Range extender to tally with the new router. The IP Address that the range extender should have should depend on the DHCP server of your router that provides the IP Address.

Got a DWL-G710 wireless extender that will not

First I would try a reset, as this extender should would with your default settings of your network.
I would suggest just giving your router a reset. Here are the procedures for your particular router:
Reset Procedure
Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.

Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.

Step 4 Release the Reset button.

Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.

Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.

make sure to setup your wireless security again and make sure to set an admin password on your router after the restart.

No internet connection via DWL-G710

Your extender may not be able to talk to the router. Make sure you have set default gateway in extender to IP of the router. Turn off encryption first. Check the router if extender shows up in active client list or active mac address list.

Are you using the correct cable type. If it is a CAT5 type cable it could be you are using a patch cable rather than a straight through type or vise versa.
