Re: harware switch of wireless internet not working
I'm having the same problem on a Acer Aspire 1640z notebook. I installed the empowering tool. Still the light next to the wireless sign (right above the keyboard) does nothing. Does this mean the wireless adaptor is still turned off? If so, how can I turn it on?
The system does find the wireless network. When I try to connect it gives the following error "The network may no longer be in range".
Thanks a million for your help!

your wireless card and everything is fine.the problem is very clear.1> if you are using windows 7 switch over to xp or any linux based operating system.i would suggest you to switch over to windows xp sp3.there are many problems arising out of windows 7 now a days.2> do you have any antivirus software installed? if yes then check it's settings if it is terminating the connection.3> if you dont have any antivirus softeare installed, then install it because virus may prevent you to connect through wireless system and may block the operation.it will also slow down your pc and many applcations are to be found 'not responding' and it will bound you to restart the system.it may also lose some data like password and username which you need for automatic sign-ups. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------post your result here.also tell me the details of your computer so that i can solve it much in a better way!
Make sure the built in wireless for this laptop is turned on, via a physical switch or using the Fn key in combination with the proper function key with the wireless icon.
If still no connection, check the source you're trying to connect to. Make sure your router is working properly and see if other devices can connect to it.
If your source is operational, and you still can't connect, two things might be happening. 1. You may have a virus on the laptop called a ******, which will block your internet connection or 2. Your wireless card may be failing.
Download some virus removal software (Malwarebytes, SAS, Combofix) and try to remove the viruses. In the end, the best thing to do is take it to a trained computer technician so you don't accidentally delete something you need off the computer. (:
How do you connect your wireless router to your netbook..?
you must have an internet connection with your service provider or isp(internet service provider),...
connect it with your wireless router modem, or modem to wireless router to your wifi laptop,.
make sure power of your modem and wireless router is on there was an ac power cord it needs to be plug...
next in to your laptop install the wifi driver,... to know that it is intalled go to my computer(windows xp/?)right click then properties go to harware tab then device driver look for yellow ? and intall driver if necessary that your wireless connection driver is not install...
if done and install go to start menu then connect to --> show all connection--> wireless connection and done it will connect... sometimes theres a security u need to type wep key,, etc etc..
Check your internet provider for service interruptions or signal degradation. Also, ensure that you are using the most recent drivers for all wireless modules. Try using a hardwired laptop to check the system to see what the problem may be. Also, run an antivirus program, and/or clear the cache by going into your internet browser and searching the options.
STOP USING IT
Disconnect from Internet - pull plug to router of switch off wireless.
Go to a friends house and use their computer to look up what to do - and then print it out.
You can get Malware and anti-virus software for free - try Google.
The instructions will be quite long but follow them carefully, otherwise take it to the repair shop and just give them the money.
If its virus ridden its no use until its completely cleared.
Try to wqork out how it got onto your computer so you can avoid it next time.

4. If available, download and install a wireless adapter driver update from the Computer manufacturer support site.
5. If possible test, another computer on the wireless network.
6. Repair the wireless connection.

enter the product number of your NB, then in the search bar type manuals. It will take you to the manuals page.
You will have everything you want..pictures.. initial setup screens, specifications etc..
For wireless internet there is a switch in the NB that need to be turned on. It looks like a tower and sound waves coming out. After you do that you need to have a router and a dsl / cable broadband internet connection to be able to connect to the wireless internet
Run an anti virus program such as AVG Free and Malwarebytes. It sounds like a software issue (generally a result of malware/viruses) is causing this issue. What antivirus software came with the laptop? Have you performed Windows updates recently?
