Screen fades out and memory resets itself

the whole display fades out in under a minute (kind of like a screen saver) and if you hit the power button, it resets the clock and alarm to 12:00 but maintains the programmed stations (channels). However, if you have the alarms set and switched on, the memory stays the the screen still goes out.
