Question about Canon FaxPhone L75 Plain Paper Laser

Vertical blank strip

On faxes sent, or fax confirmations that a fax was sent, there is a blank strip to the middle left of the page all the way down the page (vertical).
Faxes received are fine.
Obviously it is the scanner, which I have cleaned.
(We also changed the cartridge just for fun, that didn't help either of course).

That did not do anything. It's not faxes we receive, it's faxes we send, or if we "copy".

    I've already cleaned the glass.

Actually - since this was going nowhere - and we needed our fax - I threw it in the garbage and bought a new one!!!! I had paid $250 for the L75 5 years ago, and got an L80 for $89 (with a $100 rebate). So I guess it worked out okay! Thanks for all the info.

If cleaning doesn't help, the optics should be inspected to see if there is something serious going on with the mirror or the ccd unit.

White Line: clean the glass above the scanner unit. a common problem with this is that tip-ex dries on it when not letting the tipex dry fully before sending/copying

Black Line: This could be a number of thisg: Cartridge, Fuser, Dirt on the laser unit. If you have a spare cartridge lying around even if its near empty try that and see if you get the same problem. If its still showing a line then i suggest using a can of compressed air to clean the inside. If a toner has leaked then sometimes it finds its way onto the lens of the laser unit.

Sorry that link didnt work, Here is what it says...

    1. Disconnect the power cord from the machine.

    2. Use both hands to gently open the operation panel (it only opens partially).

    3. While holding the operation panel open, clean these components:

      Separation guide and separation roller:

Wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

      White sheet and scanning glass:

Wipe with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water, then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

      • If the scanner components are dirty, the documents you send or copy will also be dirty.

      • Be sure to use a soft cloth to avoid scratching the components.

      • Do
        not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning;
they can stick to the components or generate static charges.

    4. Clean the underside of the operation panel (shaded area in the illustration).

      • Dirt
and dust particles that collect on the underside of the operation panel
affect the quality of the documents you copy or send.

    5. Use
a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe any paper dust from the
areas surrounding the separation roller (shaded area in the
      illustration).

    6. When you are finished, close the operation panel by pressing it down from the center.

      • Be sure to close the operation panel until it locks into place, or the machine will not function properly.

    7. Reconnect the power cord.

The faxes being sent print out with vertical lines down the middle

There is a little scanner in the fax machine that reads the page so it can be sent out. You should be able to open the top, similar to changing the toner, and locate the scanner. This should have some glass over top protecting it. Just take a damp cloth and clean that piece of glass. There is most likely a small piece of dirt on the glass, but when it scans paper it looks like a big streak.

Outgoing fax was received as blank

Hello,

Make sure that you sent the fax face down.
If all your faxes are sent blank, there may be a problem with the scanner. Try making a photo copy placing the page face down, if your copy comes out blank then the scanner is finished.

If your photocopy does not come out blank then the problem is on the other end and not your machine.

Thanks,

Pat

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

I get lines and can't read the right side of copies that I make with the 1270e. How do I fix this?

You have not specified why you can't read the right side of copies and I am assuming that the reason is because the 'lines' are covering the text. I can offer a solution to the lines issue.

Receive coversheet followed by blank pages.

Confirm that the sender did not insert the pages to be sent upside-down in their fax machine. This will give you blank pages. Otherwise your fax may have a memory problem.

SHARP UX B700 TRANSMISSION REPORT

Does your machine show anything on the confirmation report like fax number, duration, pages sent, etc. or is the image just not being printed. If you have properly programed machine to show image on the confirmation report. I don't see anything that will cause that except your origianls may not right side up/down.

Thanks,

Mikey
