I want to install my printer into my new Dell and Norton is blocking the installation

Anti-Virus [firewall] is disallowing the install.

Disable the Anti-Virus so that the printer install program can get by the protection that Norton is giving you.

Dell AIO 922 printer cannot communicate with computer after Norton Internet Security installed


Norton changed your firewall settings to block that port. Open norton and look for Settings then manage firewall, then program rules...look for your printer someplace on that list and use the dropdown list to change it...if that doesn't work let me know...

Why did the installation process fail?


It believe you are talking about printer installation which keep failing over and over.

If this is right then follow these steps to fix it:-These steps are recommended steps which always need to be done before installing a new printer.

1.Before you initiate the printer installation make sure your Antivirus software firewall is turned off.

like if you are using norton then >>right click on norton on bottom right hand side corner>>it give you a pop up menu then left click turn off norton firewall. and do the same thing if you any other antivirus.


2.Before you install the printer make sure you don't have that printer drivers already installed.
If have already installed that printer drivers earlier then first uninstall that printer drivers.

after you uninstall the previous printer drivers then after that restart your computer once.

Dell 922 AIO NT 4.0 driver is blocked


Download the printer driver from dell web site and try to reinstall. Before reinstall the printer driver you need to uninstall the previous printer driver from control panel->program feature->dell printer

Lexmark Scanner - "cannot retrieve application list" Won't Scan - HELP please!


delete the norton internet security as its blocking the scanner files of your printer software .or try reloading the printer drivers again but if reloading the printer drivers does not helps then removing the norton software is compulsary as the files of printer are getting blocked so scanner is not working.

Dell photo 926 printer communication problem


1)right click the my computer icon
2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager.
3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes
4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers
5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer
6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next
7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.

Brother 7820 Network setup problem


Spoke to soon. the supplied disc failed working the next day.

I think your problem is your firewall!.
Disable the firewall and see if you can print / start it scanning from the brother control center.
If so you know its a firwall prob.

I gave up on trying to configure Norton to recognise it.

I uninstalled Norton Internet Security and then reinstalled it after making sure the printer was printing and the scanning etc could be started. Working fine so far ( a few hours). I am reasonably confident that this will be ok. If the machine has already communicated with the printer then Norton recognises this and allows it. If however the first time you try is after installing Norton it will block it!

Instalation problem


Hi there! I just installed a Lexmark x5495 on my HP Pavilion with Windows XP and fought it for 3 days solid! Turns out my Norton Internet Security settings were blocking printer communication. Don't know if this will help your problem, but if you have Norton, it's worth a try. Just open your Norton, click on the internet security tab, then status & settings, then personal firewall, then programs, then scroll down to printer communication system and make sure it is set to "permit all". I also set my printer spooler service to permit all. The printer worked like a charm after that. I still don't know what Norton has to do with a local printer, but it was not allowing communication between puter and printer. Funny, but it worked fine with my old printer with that setting just as it was. Good luck!
