My T5212 computer doesn't see the 1gb of ram, why?

The RAM mybe be faulty or incompatible/wrong type for your computer.
Check the specification of the RAM that is required for your computer.
If you want to install 2 off 512 Mb RAM make sure the are the same make and model.

I have a Packard Bell desk top PC In 2006 I Installed windows vista I noticed I needed a 512 ram as I had 256.I bought a 512 ram I knew were to install It ,I took the 256 ram out and carefully put In...

You put in the wrong type of memory. Put the old 256 back in the computer should power on with no beep code(or all good beep). If this is correct make sure to obtain the same type of memory as the 256. Also both slots must have the same RAM. You cannot have a 128 with a 512. They should both be either 128 or 512.
If you are using Vista you should have a minimum of 1g RAM.

I have 256 MB RAM which is slow, can i upgrade it to 512 MB RAM

Depends completely on what motherboard the computer has and what it supports, I could check on it if you have and brand and model of the computer, or from the motherboard.

Sure the prosessor speed doesn't affect the memory amount possible don't worry about that, just need to find out how much is supported and at what speed etc.

Thanks,
Ekse

Need to add RAM

Hello,

Located here is the actual specifications of your W3052.

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=W%20Series&model=W3052

The DDR means "double data rate", SDRAM is "synchronous dynamic random access memory" and DIMM is for "dual inline memory module". These are the way manufacturers describe the specific speed, type, and packaging of the memory. You need to get the correct combination for your computer in order for it to function properly. The PC2100 is NOT correct, at the very least it will slow your computer down, and possibly will not work at all. You should use PC2700.

If you wish to add another 512MB taking your computer to 1GB total, then you only need 1 module, a 512MB, like the one that came in the computer. Do not purchase a 1GB module expecting it to work properly with the one already there. It probably won't. If you want to max out your computer's memory taking it to 2GB, then you will need to purchase 2 each 1GB modules, and remove the existing 512MB module.

When you go to the computer store, you ask for either "one five-hundred-twelve megabyte, PC2700, DDR, SDRAM DIMM memory module" or "two one-gigabyte, PC2700, DDR, SDRAM DIMM memory modules".

The part numbers from, Kingston, one of the major add-on memory makers are shown here:

512MB = KVR333X64C25/512
1GB = KVR333X64C25/1G

E machine T1150 wont start up

Make sure you have the memory installed correctly. Those beep codes identify it as bad memory. Try the old RAM.
Good luck with this.

COMPUTER

Hi Linda,

In order to answer your question, I would need to know the exact manufacture and model of your computer.

Every computer is made with similar parts, but made by different manufacturers and at different points of technological availability. This means that variables such as the company that made the motherboard for your computer, the type of processor you have, and the year it was made, can all can limit the types of memory your unit is designed to use.

Almost all computer vendors register their model's specifications which are indexed by various sites that can be used to quickly identify replacement or upgrade parts for your machine.

I recommend www.crucial.com or www.goldenram.com to use to search for the correct RAM for your system.

If you would like to post us what other information you can (such as model type or make) we would be happy to help more.
