Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Magic Chef 8 bottle wine cooler model MCWC8DSCT. When turned on light flashes and fan starts to move but doesn't. Sounds like a relay keeps switching off and on. Do you know what the problem is? And which part(s) are needed to fix it? Thank-you, JJ_TORLoozee@hotmail.com

Same problem. Worked fine for two years. Then one day the display panel and inside light started flashing and it stopped working.

Lights flash, clicking sound, no cooling. Only 6 months old. Can it be fixed?

  • txxg May 02, 2009

Have the exact same issue. Not sure if it's a power board or fan control board. Clicks and flashes after it was turned off and unplugged to move during kitchen rennovation. Same outlet, same area when completed. Nothing was done to the electrical outlets.

My cooling fan is just worn out where can I buy one ? Its 3.5inches, 12v dc .19Amps. Other than that the things works. I put a small fan on it and it cooled right down.

I have the same problem as stated with the light flashing and fan tries to rotate. I found by disconnecting the power wires to the cooling unit, the fan rotates. light works and no clicking sound.
I suspect the cooling assembly is defective causing the unit to not work properly.
Does any one have a part number for this part and where I might purchase the cooling unit. RepairClinic.com does not have thhe cooling unit.

I have the same unit with the same problem. Here is a good way to troubleshoot the problem.

First go to any auto parts store, I used O'Riely's, and buy a single element light socket and bulb. I used a Calterm Ford socket assembly #08551 and bulb #1156.

Next find the 12 volt output wires on the power supply PCB board and hook up your test light. Plug in the wine cooler and see if the bulb burns bright or dim. If the bulb is bright the PCB is OK and your problem is in either the main pcb or the cooling unit itself.

When I hooked up my test light up to the power pcb the bulb would flicker confirming the pcb was defective.

Note: You cannot just use a meter to check the voltage because the meter does not simulate a load on the unit.

SOURCE: Magic Chef wine cooler clicking

If I was abetting man - I would suspect that the fan is polarised, and has been wired incorrectly..

Check that there is nothing obvious in the way of the fan blades..

I had the same problem. I fixed the problem by replacing the main cooling fan that is mounted over the electrothermal cooling unit.. Fan can be ordered from RepairClinic.com.
