Insert a pin into the hole in the back of the router, and it will reset.

My computer will not connect to my wndr3800 router but my computer will connect to my neighbors router

The first thing that you need to do is to reset the router. The reason why you need to reset the router because that will help you to fix the problem and to know the main problem/issue.

Steps

To perform a factory reset:
  1. On the back of your router, locate the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button.
  2. Using a paper clip or similar object, press and hold the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button for about seven seconds.
  3. Release the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button and wait for your router to reboot.
After your router is finished with the factory reset, the Power light stops blinking and lights solid green.
Note: The Power light on newer router models lights solid white.
The factory default settings are restored.
  4. or you can visit youtube for the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUOcjDy02ts.

Note: Once you reset the router it will be back to factory default settings and you need to setup the internet connection settings on to your router

Once your done with the hard reset try connect your computer and if your computer will have the same issue connecting to the router it only means that the problem is on your computer / try to connect other device first before you reset the router

I have hooked everything up correctly but when i go to routerlogin.com it doesnt load. if i hook my computer directly to the modem the internet works fine. what do i do?

make sure your routers setting are correct ie:password user name, firewall settings to allow your internet to connect also test the lead/s whether usb or ethernet
if you have to set your router to factory settings

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

or

if there a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

hope this helps

re you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.

Hi. I'm using an N Ultra Range plus Dual-band wireless-n Gigabit Router (model WRT320N). I can't seem to access wifi using other pcs. When I went to the web-based setup page i can't log into it.

If you don't know your password, or someone has changed it, there should be a reset button (very very tiny) on the router which will reset it to factory settings, and usually the factory default password is either admin or administrator....just start over. If one computer does recognize it, just go to that one and get the correct settings. YOu need both the encryption type (WEP/WPA/WPA-2) and the key (password) to set it up. then go to 192.168.1.1 and check your settings and set it up on the other computers. Also if one is working, you canb also copy the settings to a USB flash drive, and plug it into other computers (windows) and windows will configure it for you automatically,.

Internet intermittently going down

Hello,

Before going out and buying a new router, you should try reseting this one.

There should be a small pin hole on the back of the router, stick a pin in there to set it back to factory settings.

You can also check the WAN connection to make sure it isn't loose.

Thanks,

Pat

Hooked up arris modem with lynksys G series router

You have to set seting from routers menu. To use it hold 15 second router restart button, that restore factory setings, then go browser http://192.168.1.1/ , and use username "admin" and password "admin" in default. There you can set setting by your connection.

Make sure that your router and computer are set to get their IP addresses via DHCP.
Either the router is not setup as DHCP server or your computer has a static IP address assigned which conflicts with the router settings.
Do you have cable or DSL service (in which case the router should be set to PPPoE)?
If you have cable service, just reset the router to factory default by pressing the reset button on the back for about 30 seconds.

Then go to your computer and
  1. Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections.
  2. Right-click your Local Area Connection and choose Properties.
  3. Scroll down and double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  4. Make sure that all settings are set to Obtain ...automatically.
Click OK two times (the second time takes a little bit longer, because the settings are applied.

If you have any more questions or need help with the settings, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

On the router there is a button in a little hole at the back near the power connection.

Use a small instrument to hold this in and it will reset to default settings.

You need to reset the router to default and reinput your wireless security settings. You will need your router's IP adress. If you did not change it, it should default to 192.168.2.1 Type the IP Adress into your web browser. It should invoke a password screen to access your router. Log in to it. I don't know how handy you are with computers. If this seems like mumbo jumbo, STOP! Find a tech to handle it for you. This is the address to the User manual if you need it: http://www.belkin.com/support/dl/F5D8231-4v1_manual.pdf this is page 41: Restoring Factory Default Settings Using this option will restore all of the settings in the Router to the factory (default) settings. It is recommended that you back up your settings before you restore all of the defaults. 1. Click the ?Restore Defaults? button. 2. When the message appears, Click ?OK?. 3. The following message will appear. Restoring the defaults includes restarting the Router. It can take up to 60 seconds. It is important not to turn the power to the Router off during the restart. 4. A 60-second countdown will appear on the screen. When the countdown reaches zero, the Router?s defaults will be restored. The Router home page should appear automatically. If it does not, type in the Router?s address (default = 192.168.2.1) into the navigation bar of your browser. Hope this helps... If not leave a message and I will respond back!
