Question about Pioneer AVIC-N2 Car DVD Player

1 Answer

Avic N2 gps locked to a position.

Got a question for u tech48. I have a N2 that has been working fine. While on a trip, it started having a glitch and not staying on the road. It would kind of drift and not follow the road I was on. Finally, it does not move at all while driving and shows me in Los Angelas, not Indiana. I reset the unit, checked all wires to make sure that they were plugged in and disconnected all power and reconnected to only find the same thing going on. When checking the hardware setup, under the gps satellite connections, It says OK but no satellites are lit up. Any Ideas? My email is stormj1@calumet.purdue.edu

Thanks in advance
Jim

I have the same problem but this was after I re-installed from a recall repair on Flex-cable. No solution yet!

Hi Jim,

This would be a very difficult problem to solve without having it in front of me to troubleshoot. It may be a difficult one even with it in front of me. The biggest problem I have with these particular units is that Pioneer doesn't authorize anybody to work on them, so, I never get the opportunity to repair them. Can't get some of the parts, so we just have our customers send them directly to Pioneer.

The problem you are having sounds like it is internal to the Pioneer. Since you have already reset it, there is nothing left for you to try.

I am really sorry that I can not be more help, this needs to be sent to Pioneer for repair, I just don't see much other option for you, unless there is a local service center that will check it out.
UnIike some "Experts" I will not try to B.S. you about anything that I don't know much about. I fixed a few of these, but it has always been minor problems, the rest we send to Pioneer since we get no support for them at my shop.

If I can help you with anything else feel free to ask, I just hope I have a better answer for you next time.

Dave

Avic n2 says route calculation not possible.

Lots of burned disc are low quality and files are corrupted. The map is OK because it encoded on the outter layer. But when you try to access navi menu which is encoded on the second layer then it won't work. Buy older original discs, even severely scratch they still retains the file and works fine. Let me know if you need help to down grade to older version. Because new oem version can be expensive. Goodluck.

You will need a gps antenna, 30 pins data cable and an antenna extension to do basic installation set. For more precise set up you will also need reverse and speed signal sensor wires(pink and purple).
