Question about IBM (25P3294) Motherboard

IBM Power Hi.  I am not able to get any power to my IBM with the cord plugged in.  The battery has now drained and will not charge.  When I plug in the power cord it does not register as plugged in....still shows the laptop using battery power.  This is a 4 year old IBM, is it fixable or worth fixing?  Also do you think I can retrieve my data from the PC? Thank you for your expert advise!

You can experience the following problems.
1. Your power supply is bad or connector on your power supply is broken. Check output voltage on your connector with multimeter.
2. The connector on your laptop is bad. Requires disassembling of your laptop. Depends on the model it could be outside the board or soldered to the board. In any case it requires special skill's to do it.
3. The system board on your laptop is bad. Requires repair or replacement of the board.

I would charge at least $100 to replace your system board or connector on the board. All parts are extra.

Check the wall plug for power
I have had one where you had to wriggle power fitting in computer (bad plug)
Lap tops are getting cheaper so it could be a viable proposition to upgrade
Any competent local computer shop could transfer files from old computer to new
you could make it a condition of sale

Is not charging battery


If the laptop works with the AC Adapter Power Cord ok without any problems except the battery is not charging, then the battery is dead. Batteries only have a useful life, then they have to be replaced.

If the laptop does not work with the AC Adapter Power Cord then either the Power Cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. If either of these is bad, a good battery will not charge.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Tyan S7010 does not start. Green led flashing constantly

you need to replace the battery and check out the contacts of the cord .if the outlet is broken you will need a new outlet for the cord.

Laptop battery is not charging


Hi, this information represents a basic troubleshooting guideline. Refer to your user guide for specific charging and connection instructions. Manuals may be available online in the Support Web site of HP.

Remove the battery from the computer.
Confirm the battery contacts are free of any foreign material that may prevent charging.
Reinsert the battery into the computer.
Verify that the AC adapter cord is properly connected and plugged directly into a known working AC power outlet.

NOTE: If the battery charges correctly when the AC adapter is plugged directly into an AC power outlet, but not when plugged into a power strip or surge protector, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the computer battery or AC adapter.

Verify the correct AC adapter is being used.
Ensure the AC adapter box power light is on. This will be an illuminated green light.
If the AC adapter power light is not on, the AC adapter and power cord will need to be replaced.
Verify the charging indicator is illuminated on the computer.
If the issue still exists, install a different compatible HP battery, if available.

NOTE: If a replacement battery charges and operates correctly, the problem is with the first battery.

If neither the original nor a replacement battery charges, service may be required for the computer.

Battery will not charge on a dell d610 when plugged into outlet


I have seen this with faulty batteries.
Try changing the battery.
Also, check in the BIOS that the adapter you are using is recognised and shows a state of charging with the battery in.
