Hi, i broke off the elevation crank handle on my silku 9000 when i failed to loosen the locking collar. i have seen a recommendation to order a replacement crank handle through kenkomall. is this a feasible repair? kathy

By elevator crank handle I presume you mean the centre column adjuster. May be available from the manufacturer or importer, otherwise try Ebay or your local friendly camera service centre.

Unscrew the handle from the collar and see if it will open wide enough to slide over the chuck and onto the drill neck.
If not, you may have to remove the chuck. Open the chuck jaws completely and look down inside you will see the head of the screw which is holding the chuck onto the drill.

Try loosening the collar as much as possible and access the poke hole. I'm not sure how you managed to get the handle on, You might need to drill the collar, but if drilled while the collar is loose, the damage could be hidden. Good luck! Replacement collars are available, if all else fails.

Sounds like the door lock cylinder broke. You can easily remove it and actuate the lock with a flathead screwdriver.
While pulling the door handle, loosen the t20 screw just to the rear of the handle until the lock cylinder slides out. You can peek in there with a flashlight and see where to put the blade of the screwdriver.
You need to order a new lock cyl, and they take a while to get from the dealer.

To remove the bulb look for where the wires go into the lights and you should see what appears to be a locking collar. Loosen the locking collar and remove the bulb assembly. If you want to actually remove the headlight assembly there are typically 2 torx head screws that need to be removed to remove the assembly. For a diagram of that area I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle.

Turn the window handle to where you can see a small 1/2" slot rt at its base where it meets the panel.you'll notice a small brass v shaped clip,you'll need hooked pick or something simular to hook this clip and pull it out of its slot,this release's window crank handle. Once this is off the rest of panel is held on by plastic panel clips that pull loose by pulling panel outwards from door ,and also by a few various screws. once panel is off temp. slide window crank back on and crank window all the way up. You then should have clear view of outer door handle. Handle has two rods attached to it,one for lock assy., one for latch release.This is the one you'll be looking at.Most likely you will find rod has came loose due to broken retainer clip at handle,or casting on handle itself has broken off.If clip is broke you can buy new clip at dealer or at some autoparts outlets,replace and reattach rod(make sure rod locks into place).If handle casting is broke will need handle replaced.It is held in place by two 10mm bolts,two rods preeviously mentioned. If handle is body color matched will need color code(on door jam sticker)to order handle from dealer to match.Lock assy will need to be transfered to new handle,it is held in by two spring clips.You notice two holes one on each side of lock,you will need to push release clips inwards through each hole to release lock and slide it out.to install just push down into newhandlle until clips engage. itz really kinda simple-see where the cable is-tire area-connected to 2 partz-loosen nut n sqeez rubber stoppers together pull cable n titen-get book in library sec 629

You'll need to use either the built in shaft lock to hold the collet in a fixed position, or use a pair of slip joint pliers to hold the shaft of the bit, while you use the wrench to loosen the collet. Slow and steady should get it loose. Another option is use some penetrating oil sprayed lightly onto the back of the collet to help loosen it from the shaft etc.

Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.
