MOST likely a bad high voltage transformer or a Glycol leak both of which were common in this set and the parts for this set are nearly impossible to find (I think by the model number set is newer than 92).

I liked these sets but I would not invest big money to fix one this old.

You gave no info but if the power button on the front flashes three times and it don't come on, you have a problem on the power board. This can be fixed usually for 125-225 us dollars by a tv shop. Let me know if you need more help. Good luck, Russmann.

What would cause fan to go out and how hard to replace

FIRST OF ALL DON'T BUY A TOSHIBA T.V. I BOUGHT THIS SAME T.V. AND CAN NOT GET THE FAN REPLACEMENT PART EITHER. I PAID FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS T.V. THAT I HAVE USED VERY LITTLE OVER THE PAST FOUR YEARS, BECAUSE IT IS IN MY VACATION HOME. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOSHIBA PRODUCT.

You will need to get to the control board and see if any of the front panel buttons are sticking. if they are not, you will have a bad switch or the remote sensor is defective. If you have no TV repair experience. you will need to consult a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
