How do I get the question mark punctuation to work...

When you were typing something you probably hit the left shift key along with ctrl. Hold down the left shift and ctrl for about 2-4 seconds and you should get your question mark back.

To make it so it never happens again, go to control panel / region and language / keyboards and languages / change keyboards. Remove every language except for English (us) or whatever region you want to use. Before you accept verify that your keyboard is on your preferred language before you do this. check and make sure you are getting the proper slash when you push slash, to change it if you're not getting the slash use the (left ctrl + left shift for 3-4 seconds) if that doesn't work then try alt and left shift.

Iam trying to get the black slash and question mark what keys do i use to get them

Depending on setting, assuming that the keyboard is set to United States, the ? and / key are next to the shift key on the right side, bottom row. For a question mark hold down the shift key.

I hope this is helpfull

I have an acer aspire 7551-2755 and cannot for the life of me find out how to insert a ``question mark`` or the ``backspace`` hyphen mark

The question mark is the key that sits to the left of the right hand side "Shift" key. Use the shift key by holding it down, then hit the question mark key once while holding down the shift key. Let the shift key go, and you should see a question mark displayed. The hyphen mark key is the one to the right of the zero key. It is also called a minus key.

Good luck!

What button makes an apostrophy

Look to the left side of the right side enter key....you will see the apostrophy on the bottom and the quotation mark on the top. Apostrophy will come up without hitting the shift key and the quotation mark will come by hitting the shift key + the quotation key.

Trying to toggle from blue keys to white keys

Hi,

You have to hold the shift key down and then hit the question mark key.

In the picture above the key is white but most of them are black. There are 2 shift keys at either ends of the keyboard with the trade mark up arrows on them.

Regards.

Left shift + T, right shift + E doesn't work on an hiper keyboard

Your shift key is broken, if this product was recently purchased, return it for another. If you've had it for a while and it just decided to stop working, your best bet would be to pry the Left Shift key off and clean around that area and properly attach the key back on - its possible it wasn't hitting the sensor when it was pushed down.

If this does not fix your problem please leave a comment and I will assist you further.

Ctrl + fn + right shift key twice

so hold ctrl + fn + right shift key then release the right shift key but keep holding the ctrl + fn keys down then push the right shift key again and that should deactivate it

Gateway keyboard shift key creating special characters when used

This is a mechanical problem. I had the same problem and was able to fix it. Instructions with pictures can be found at: http://www.sportmachines.com/keyboard/

Here are the instructions without the pictures:

I had a problem with my Gateway keyboard where whenver I pressed the left shift key, it type a pipe | (verticle line) character. This is the same character that is above the back slash character . I searched the internet and people were suggesting reloading drivers and apparently Gateway was suggesting a destructive reload of the hard drive. That's absolutely rediculous.
After some research, I determined that on some European style keyboards, the backslash/pipe key is between the left shift and the "Z" key. So, I removed the left shift key to experiment. The key simply pops off by sticking a screwdriver under it. (It is not necessary for you to do this).

When I used a little screwdriver to press on the center of the plastic (red arrow) I would get a proper shift key. However, when I pressed to the right (green arrow), I would get the backslash character. If I pushed at the red and green arrow together, I would get the pipe character.

Ah-hah! I determined the problem. The inside of the keyboard is a "universal" type and can be used with U.S. or Europeon keyboard layouts. For whatever reason, the left shift key was hitting both dots under the key. (The dots are visible in the pictures below.)
To resolve the problem, it is necessary to disassemble the keyboard. On the bottom of the keyboard is a bunch of screws. Remove all of the screws. If you have any rubber feet, there is probably screws under the rubber feet. The feet are just held on by sticky taope, so they peel right off.

Once all of the screws are removed the top and bottom halves seperate easily. The circuits stay in the bottom half of the keyboard, so set the top half of the keyboard to the side. The red arrow marks where the left shift key presses down.

Pull back the top layer and you will see the flexible circuits. These are also made up of multiple layers. When a key is pressed it pushes these layers together to complete the switch circuit. The red arrow marks the shift key. The green arrow marks the backslahs/pipe key for European style keyboards. The blue arrow is yet another key that is not used on U.S. keyboards.

Pull back the first layer of the switch circuit to expose the space between the circuit layers.

Place a small piece of electrical tape on the extra backslash/pipe circuit connection as marked by the red arrow.

Now simply reassemble the keyboard and that weird pipe character will never accidentally show up again.
