Error message on san disk sd card

Have used my san disk extreme III SD card for about 2 years.
it has been formatted (in the camera) quite a few times with no problems.
now, after formatting i got a "memory card error" notice in my camera.
when i put in a brand new card, there was no problem.

did it just die of old age or something else ??!!

thanks for your help.

You may have answered your own question. There is a good chance that your memory card has reached the end of its life. You might try reformatting the card with the computer and then do the format in the camera. This has worked for me before.

How do i sort out memory card error when not being read on camera and computer?

It could be that you are using a corrupted card, in which case you can correct this by just buying a new SD card.

We bought a 4GB SD Card, but the camera fail to format the card. We've tried formatting the card on computer but it still didn't work after inserting back in the Camera.

To correct a Memory Card Lock:
one the side of the memory card is a plastic toggle switch, slide it down and up again to reset the switch and then stick it back into your camera.. see if that fixed the problem.

How to put photos onto SD cards

In Windows, click on Start/Computer. A window opens showing all the drives connected to the computer. Under "removable drives" locate the SD card. Hover your mouse pointer over the SD card icon and it should tell you how much free space is on the card. If necessary, delete some photos or other data to make more space available so you can add the photos you want. If there's already plenty of space, try formatting the SD card in either ex-FAT or NTFS format. Then try copying the photos again. If the SD card does NOT in appear in removeable drives then the SD card may be faulty. Try a different SD card.

Hd170 Problem... Camera says no sd card but there is ..... Replaced card re formatted. Now what????

I had the exact same problem. I took the camera apart, adjusted the height of the gold plated spring connectors inside the SD card slot, and re-flowed all of the SD card slot solder joints. The camera is now working good as new... Good Luck!

Take the memory card out of the camera. Move the lock switch on the side of the card to the unlocked position if it is in the locked position. Replace the card carefully without moving that switch. The unlocked position on most SD cards puts the switch towards the end of the card that goes into the camera first.

If that doesn't help, try a different card. The card you are using may have a problem that could require formatting. Copy your photos to another drive first. (Use a drive/photo recovery program on your computer (with the card in an SD card reader). There are some that will attempt to read even a corrupted SD card.) Then reformat the card. If the card can't be reformatted, it may have failed. Check your warranty on the card and see if it will be replaced by the manufacturer.

I hope this helps.

My kodac wont format the sd card. it does this over and says format but wont format

What model Kodak camera? Are you sure you have an SD card, 2GB or smaller? Many Kodak models won't work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

I need to format my scan disk data card using my camera

I assume by "scan disk data card" you actually mean a SanDisk brand card.
Press the [MENU] button. Select Setup (wrench icon). Select "Format memory/Format card" (camera-slash-card icon).
SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. Make sure the card is unlocked before putting it into the camera.
If you need a manual, you can download one from here. Setup menu instructions begin on page 85, formatting instructions are on page 100.

Is Sandisk Ultra 8 GB SDHC card compatible with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30GN camera? When inserted in Camera error message check card flashes

No. The DMC-FZ30 was designed to work with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they do not work. You'll have to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

4 GB SD card Will not format in my Fuji Finepix a820 camera.

Your camera may not be able to use the SDHC 4gb memory card. Since I don't have which camera you have, I will have to refer you back to your instruction manual. Many older digital cameras and devices cannot use the Larger SDHC since they were never designed for that format card. I would recommend getting a smaller 2GB or less SD camera. It should work fine.

Digital camera says my SD card is pin protected

Have you looked at the card closely, there is a small switch at the side lock / unlock, try unlocking the card and the camera should be able to use it again.
