No Internet, No Emails, NO MEDIA NET, NO EXISTING CONNECTIONS?

All of a sudden, I am unable to access my email or use IE. When trying to download email, I get the message: Cannot connect. be certain that your connection settings are correct, and try again.

I hadn't made any changes to my phone at all when this happened. I have tried to reset the connections, but for some reason there are NO existing connection listed...here's what happens: 1. Tap on Start menu, and then Settings
2. Tap on the Connections tab on the bottom of the screen
3. Tap on the Connections icon in the middle of the screen
4. Tap on "Manage existing connections" underneath MEdia Net??
5. Tap on the "Edit..." button to edit the MEdia Net connections??? THERE IS NO MEDIA NET LISTED!!! I have the option to make a NEW connection from scratch but I don't know how.

In NETWORK MANAGEMENT, I have My Work Network, MyISP Name, ATT ISP, and My ISP only as options. I've never seen that. Do I need to clear everything out and start over from the beginning? Please help!

I am in the US. Why would I be unable to find anything listed under any network? When I get to the page that says:

"Tap and hold and existing connection for more options", there is NOTHING listed under Name/Number.

  • dstein1209 Jul 18, 2008

See if you've got a Settings-Connections-Connection Setup control panel under settings. If you do, run that and it should automatically provision your settings.

What may be another issue is under Settings-connections-connections-advanced-Select Networks. In the top pull-down, if it has "The Internet" instead of "My ISP" or "Media Net," you'll get interesting connection issues.

Hope that helps..........

Ok if that's teh case you really need to contact AT&T for the correct settings for this unit or if you want try resetting the settings of the phone and reconfigure it with the correct configuration.

    Good luck.............

You need to set up the correct settings for your phone. Call your phone provider (eg Vodafone, Orange,Telecom etc.). The customer support will guide you step by step in setting the internet to the old connection settings.
Some provider also offer downloadable setup
Let me know your location and your phone provider to find contact.

If AT&T is the service company for your mobile phone, then you need to call AT&T. They have a dedicated line, with someone following step by step, and is toll free or local call.
Post also your location and I will find the number (USA AU FR UK etc.)

Some company also provides a download, even easier, but I need to know where you are (and your mobile phone company.

In this case you need to connect to a local router as a wireless local network, am I correct?
Check first that Wi-Fi is turned on in wireless manager.
Then you set a new connection, using your wireless manager.
To start wireless manager tap the Wireless Manager icon on the Today screen, or tap Start >Programs > Wireless Manager.
Then chose type for connection wi fi, ensure you know your router encryption key.
Here is the user manual check page 152 for the whole procedure.
See chapter 10.3 on how to make a wireless connection.

Things are much different if instead you want configure a bluetooth connection with your computer, or if you want to join a GPRS/G3 network.

Let me know if you need more help.

Simply go to Wireless manager, turn on wifi, it will display network list, your router network should be among them.

    Ginko Jul 18, 2008

It is not connection Wizard, it is wireless manager.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Jul 18, 2008

And regarding step-by -step you find it in the user manual check page 154 chapter 10.3. Even with pictures!
That is all you got to do.

I have accessed my cogeco emails on my Acer tablet but it is not showing any of my emails, also I cannot access the internet

Hi
If you can't get emails, and can't get onto the Internet, then you are not connected to a WiFi access point. To connect to a WiFi system, you may need 3 pieces of information:
A username
A password
An encryption key
Once you have successfully linked to a WiFi access point then your tablet will remember the settings until told to forget them.
A lot of the time you may only need the encryption key, and if the tablet detects a WiFi access point then if you tap on that in wireless settings then it will either connect automatically or ask you for some sort of code - the encryption key. If this is not entered correctly then it will return an authentication problem/error. In order to connect you have to have this code.
Some public WiFi access points are not encrypted, and you therefore do not need an encryption key, but these sites are insecure.
I you are trying to use a mobile broadband service you will need an appropriate SIM card in the Iconia and a contract, (monthly pat or pay-as-you-go) including a data allowance from your Service Provider.
You will also need a username and password to get onto your emails on the cogeco website, but presumably you already know these as you probably access your emails from a PC using these anyway.
Finally, if you go to this web page:
Drivers and Manuals
you can download manuals and drivers for a very wide range of Acer products.
There are various ways to select your model but I have found it easiest to use the selection options >Group >Series >Products.
This brings up a page with tabs part way down for
•Driver
•Documents
•BIOS
•Patch
•Application
•O.S.
Obviously documents is the one you want for a manual and by clicking on it you can download it to your computer in pdf format to read with Adobe Acrobat Reader and store for future reference.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

How do I set my e-mail address to download emails

Just so everyone knows, I have BB Curve 8310 with AT & T.

You get 1 blackberry email account (in my case, it's username@att.blackberry.net). If you're like me, you have business, personal, etc accounts that you want to add without getting 20-30 minute delays before the email hits your BB.

Let's say you have 2 emails you want to set up (1 for your business and 1 personal). Let's say your business POP3 email is myname@mybusiness.com.

1) Create a username with your ATT BB address (let's say, mybusinessname@att.blackberry.net).
2) In your POP3 email settings, choose to "redirect" or "forward and save a copy in Inbox" and forward your emails to your ATT BB address (mybusinessname@att.blackberry.net) you've just created. This will help get your emails to your BB pretty much instantaneously. And emails will be kept in your inbox for you to reference as well.
3) Log into your providers BIS (short for Blackberry Internet Service). ** Can't post a link but you can just Google your providers name followed by Blackberry Internet Service and you should find it
4) Once you're logged in, from there you can set up your account.
• Email Account Name: put your ATT BB address in there
• Reply To: This is where you can put any email address you want. So, even though you're sending the email from username@att.blackberry.net, the user will see whatever email address you put in this field. So, in this case, you want to put myname@mybusiness.com. So, the user will see it came from myname@mybusiness.com and when replying, they will reply to myname@mybusiness.com (which is then forwarded to your ATT BB email, which is then forwarded to your BB).
• Auto BCC: The only problem with doing this (and I run into this a lot) is that since I'm sending out so many emails - some from BB and some from my office computer, I don't know what I sent to people, and without an Enterprise server, it is not automatically synched with my desktop in my office. What you can do here is set up a Gmail account and name it mybusiness_dump@gmail.com and any email you send from your BB will be sent to this email address as well so you know what you sent people.
• Signature: You can change your signature for each of your email accounts (business, personal, whatever), which is great.

I no longer recieve emails on my blackberry I use the blackberry curve and my emails come through outlook with a comcast.net address

Remove the Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account and re-associate it with the BlackBerry smartphone using the correct mailbox name.

Revalidate the email account by logging in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account on your wireless service provider's web site and typing the user name and password for the associated account.

Request for service book for the associated Microsoft Outlook Web Access account from your service provider (customer care).

I hope you can fix this issue by doing this trouble shooting steps

Have a blackberry 7520 and I am using it on boost mobile unlimited but I can't get web access or text message how do I get internet access?

yes there is a way.
download "opera mini" (you can google it for download sites) for internet access. however u cannot download anything OTA (over the air) from websites.

as far as texting... the device does not support texting with boost.
there are several ways around this..

you can try a free messaging program (one such as "RAMBLE IM" to use AOL IM).
i used to use this and just send messages to peoples phone numbers that i had saved on my buddylist. (EX: +15552223333)
-OR-
you can download "GMAIL" which is google email and send emails to peoples cell phone numbers. every cell phone number comes with an email.. for example to send a text to a VERIZON customer u would send the email to 5552223333@vtext.com and they would just reply to it and u would get it. however, they wont see ur phone number it would show up as ur email account u set up with google mail. another however is that gmail doesnt inform u on ur handset when u receive an email u have to manually check it and refresh it but if u go to ur google email account using a computer u can go to settings/options-> forwarding/pop tab-> and forward all emails to ur phone number@messaging.nextel.com (EX: 5552223333@messaging.nextel.com) now everytime u get an email it will send it to ur handset as well and it will vibrate or ring whatever u have it on and let u know u have a message.

you can google all these programs to download them and put them on ur blackberry thru desktop manager. good luck.

If you have Bellsouth/Att for emails they had a change in the way the emails are setup. You will have to reconfigure your email setting on your phone to match. Go to ATT help fourms to get the new setup.

Setup Versamail with Outlook 2000

I use Versamail with my web-based, non-work email account (which is what it sounds like you have - web-based at least). I don't sync Versamail, I just use it to dial in to my account and download/send emails.
