SOURCE: error code F1

Error code F1 is for a defective touch pad or membrane (usually the touch pad). In this case you will need replace touch pad or membrane. It seems that water entered the touch pad during the self cleaning process, remove the touch pad and try to dry it. Good luck !!

SOURCE: oven lights will not turn off, Maytag gas double oven range Prec. touch 750

Hello bohlke75,
Welcome

You said, After cooking in the upper oven today, my wife noticed that both oven lights were on. I tried to turn them off but the oven light button just beeps when activated. I individually tried the plunger switches on both doors but that did not work either. You also unplugged the stove with the hope it would cancel the lights but they came right back on when i plugged it back in. You assume it is something in the touch pad since both lower and upper lights are affected.

Did you leave the plug out for 5 minutes or just do it quickly?
if it only happens on one door then the plunger switch is bad!
if it's both doors then you have a button or control problem. Service can give you a true diagnoses with out the cost of swapping parts randomly!
If it was the plunger you may have been able to get away with a do it your self repair!

Let me know how you do
.
Thank You,
Huuum

The oven's element may be defective. Take a look at the heating element and look to see if there are any unusual 'marks' on the element.
It is a simple fix.
Unplug the stove, unscrew the screws holding the element to the back of the stove, gently pull the element a few inches towards you, pop off the connectors, take the element out and take with you to the store. It is a good idea to take the model nukber with yoy when you go to the store.
To replace, just reverse the steps above.

Hello,

The problem with the oven not lighting believe it or not is going to be that the igniter is weak and not drawing the correct amount of power to allow the gas to flow.I know it would seem since the igniter comes on that it could not be the problem yet since it comes on to me a oven technician with 30 years experience the igniter is exactly what it is.

Hello,

FOR THE OVEN NOT HEATING

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake igniter is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake igniter(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of igniter make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake igniter. I know it seems improbable that if the igniter comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the igniter comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak igniter is the cause 100% of the time

FOR THE SURFACE BURNER NOT LIGHTING The holes on the burner espically those around where the electrode are dirty/clogged. By using a paper clip/safety pin to push in and clear the holes then clean the burner up with some steel wool the burner should light. GENE

Oven won't work. Maytag Performa Stove. Broiler and burners work.

sounds like your bake element is gone
but the model number would help a great deal

pul out the stove unplug it, take off the back, and inspect the connections on the bottom element

if its gas its probably your ignitor
take out the racks
take out the bottom
set to bake
you should see a very bright light within a minute
if you dont thats the ignitor

anyway both parts are available
and both are a pretty starigt forward repair

Maytag oven doesn't light, broiler comes on instead

On some gas ranges, the broiler comes on with the bake selection during warm up. This allows the oven to preheat much quicker. More than likely, the control pad is functioning properly and your bake igniter is bad. Igniters become weak with age and eventually go bad. Since the bake feature is used more frequently, it typically goes bad more often. The following link provides you with some guidance on oven igniters:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

Remember: just because an igniter glows, does not mean it is good. If they become weak, they will not draw the required current potential to open the gas safety valve.

If you determine the igniter to be bad, you can obtain a replacement at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and go to the "Gas Controls" heading and look for item number 14 (part number 74007498). If the igniter plug does not match the plug you have on your oven, the instructions will guide you to cut the wires and splice the ends together. There should be ceramic wire lugs that come with the igniter kit. CAUTION: Make sure you only use the ceramic (heat resistant) lugs that come with the kit. Splicing with regular wire lugs or electrical tape will melt due to the heat. Additionally, make sure you UNPLUG the appliance before replacing the igniter. Live voltage potentials are still present with the range shut off.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Oven will not unlock

Fault Codes
“Bake” or “Lock” may flash rapidly in the display to alert you if
there is an error or a problem. If “Bake” or “Lock” flash in the
display, press CANCEL pad. If “Bake” or “Lock” continue to
flash, disconnect power to the appliance. Wait a few minutes,
and then reconnect power. If the flashing still continues,
disconnect power to the appliance and call an authorized
servicer.

If this does not work let me know please.
