SOURCE: Dots on projector screen.

if the dots are pixelated, you have an lcd issue (or if you have a dlp, it's a dmd issue). if it's not pixelated, try to focus the lens on them. if you can, it's dust. blow it out with canned air.

SOURCE: small white dots all over

If the dots cant be blown off the lens, or appear rectangular in shape when looked at close up, then you have pixel failure. If so, then the DMD chip probably needs replacing.

SOURCE: my ViewSonic PJD6221 Projector shows scattered white dots on the screen

Your dlp chip is going bad and cannot be fixed economically. Several of the mirrors on the chip are hanging up and they won't come back. It will just get worse. My Sharp XR32X is doing the same thing. New projector time.

I have nec np200 and there's a lot of dots appeared on the screen. what seems to be a problem

I have 2 NP-200 projectors installed in a school which show white dots on a black background and black dots on a white background. This is caused by the DMD chip losing pixels. Only solution is to replace the chip, I'm researching now if that i an economical solution.

How do you clean the dust out of the projector, there are particles that look like small white stars on the black areas and black stars on the white areas. Is this dust?

If you focus the image on a screen up close to the projector and notice small rectangular black and white spots, then you have pixel failures.

Help! Our Optoma DLP projector is about 6 months old. It started with one white dot on the screen. It has since mulitplied to be at least 20 white dots all over the screen and now some black dots are...

Your DMD chip or DMD driver need to be checked. The most likely it is DMD. If your projector is new with one year warranty, send it to the company for repairs. They will replace it at no cost.

Little white and gray dots started appearing on the screen it looks like star constellations??

If the dots are twinkling then you have bad pixels, if they don't twinkle I'd say there is dust built up in the optics and needs to be cleaned, which to do properly the top needs to be removed to allow access to the optical engine to do this. I recommend keeping the unit in a plastic bag when not in use to prevent dust build up.
