I have seen this problem many times and it is an easy fix if you know how to solder.

There are a series of suface mount resistors on the main board that are in the front right near the side, as you look into the radio with the top off and the radio facing you.

Let me know if you want to do this yourself and if so, I will post a diagram of the board and and point out just what resistors need to be resoldered.

I am certain that this is ther fix, I repair them for a living and have done many of these myself.

I work at a Kenwood authorized service center and have repaired about 100 or more of these over the last year alone.

All you need to do is take the cd mech out of the unit and you will see the surface mount resistors I am talking about. Of course, you must remove the radio from the car first. This can not be done in the car.

If you are not good with a soldering iron, maybe you can find a friend who is, because this is a very easy fix if you can solder.

Have you checked out what I have posted for your problem?

I am certain that my solution will fix your problem. If you want the radio display to work 100% of the time, this is the way you do it.

It is a common problem with your model of Kenwood and several other models of Kenwood. The surface mount resistors in the front right area of the main circuit board get heat stressed and cause this problem. I really have repaired lots of these and you should take my solution seriously.

It would be appreciated if you would please respond back and let all of the experts offering you solutions some update on your progress. You can get a service manual from link below but better if warranty has expired take it to a service shop to estimate if can be repaired at reasonable cost.

The best advice I can give you is to detach the faceplate and clean the contacts on the face and radio with rubbing alchol and a q-tip. As the face is removed and re-installed over time the contacts can wear out and get dirty. If this doesn't work then contact kenwood to check your warranty status as it is an internal problem.

Hope this helps

Kenwood w-3537 how to turn off demo mode

To turn off the Demo mode you need to:

Press source button, then select stand by mode.

Using the FM/AM button select Demo display

To set the demo mode hold the source button for 2 seconds
it will switch from on and off.

If this doesn't help I have included a link of the manual, it's on page 25.
