You could try diferent burning may even be a hardware fault the dvdr drive.cds and dvds burn and read data from inside to outer the laser moves out twards edge the speed of disc changes to compensate for larger distance travelled so a worn drive can sometimes start to show this fault.also sometimes only play half a film or stop at track 10 on cd

Hello there jpd0490.

Here's your geek-steer ...

There are principally two chief causes for this type (calibration) of burn failure:
  1. Inadequate quality media (disks). Verbatim is always a solid choice. However, more important than the brand-name disks are sold under, is the actual manufacturer. You can determine this with the aid of a little software tool called "DVD Identifier". There is an entire sub-culture devoted to tracking the best media available, right down to the manufacturing lot level.
  2. Drive failing. Since you say that it works consistently otherwise, this option is unlikely.
Good luck, and please do post back ...
  • to let me (and interested others) know how things worked out,
  • to provide clarification or feedback,
  • if you have ANY further questions.

Write Error

That's almost an adequate error description! It is odd that a 24x CD speed description is given for burning in a DVD-RAM; what media and session types did you pick? If there is nothing (hair, fingerprints, soap...) on the particular disk preventing a burn, perhaps something has a write lock on dlgbrnst.cpp so it can't be reeled off to DVD-RW?
