Vertical scan output section circuit fault. Absence of vertical scan causes the single horizontal line on screen. Horizontal scan output section is OK. Contact any service technician to troubleshoot the vertical scan output section circuit. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Horizontal line fault to CRT based TVs are given.
Switch on the power while simultaneously holding down the numerical keys 0, 1, and 3 on the Control Panel.
The Calibration Screen 1 will display
In numeric sequence (P1 to P9), touch the intersections of the vertical and horizontal lines with the stylus.
Apply the stylus to each of the four line intersections. A black square should appear at the point of contact, and a beep should sound.
If four beeps are heard, adjustment is OK.
If you don't hear four beeps, repeat the adjustment from step 1.
Switch the power off and then on.
hi, Is there is white horizontal thine line on all over the screen then the screen voltage of you TV is high. Can be caused by bad base socket in the picture tube neck, faulty focus/screen block. Check the two things. You can see the base socket at the picture tube neck replace all the three base sockets for the three CRTs. if problem remains then you have to replace the focus/screen block. focus/screen block is one through which you can adjust the screen voltage and focus voltage. If the potentiometer in side it have some problem then this problem can occur. Have added the image for two items for your reference.
Slanting horizontal lines indicate that the horizontal hold is out of adjustment. As the components age they change values and don't have the same effect on the circuit. some units have a horizontal hold adjustment pot on the back that can be adjusted to bring the horizontal back to the middle. If the adjustment pot is not on the back the only way to bring the horizontal hold back is on the inside of the unit and this is not a safe proceedure. If the picture was really good before it went bad then it might be worth the cost of repair. If the picture was getting weak (light colors, washed out look) then the repairs are not cost effective (not worth the money to have the unit repaired) There are some tv repair people that work quite a bit cheaper than others. It would be worth a few phone calls to get an estimate and make an informed purchasing decision.
CAUTION!!!!
you should never fix the inside of the tv unless you are a professionel tv repair man
there is High voltage and the only thing you should to is get a new tv set.
A LINE left / right thru the middle ( horiz line) indicates a problem in the vertical circuit.First step is to solder the pins of vertical o/p
IC.........Next, troubleshoot vertical circuit to look for problem...T.

I had the same problem with my sony KP-57ws500 rear projection tv. To solve this problem all you need is a flat and phillips screwdriver. Right below your speakers on the right and left side are tabs. Pull out the tabs and remove the screw on eachside. Once that is done remove the speaker cover and you will see a fiber board cover in the middle of the tv, there will most likley be twist ties holding some wires, to make it easier to work remove the ties. Now remove the screws on the fiber board and pull it off. You should see 3 adjustments on the top for focus, do not touch those. Below the focus adjustments on the
