This happened to a nice pioneer that i had. Sometimes things just break. Try cleaning the contacts from head unit to face. When mine broke, i found one on ebay for pretty cheap

I am rigging up an indoor sound system using an old Sony Xplod cassette deck (xr-ca800). I have the unit powered up. I can listen to the radio and tapes, but what I really want is to utilize the R/L...

Those are for the optional CD/MD changer. The deck won't switch over to those inputs unless a compatible changer is hooked up via the bus control. The only way to make this work would require a changer.

Rear auxiliary input source select

Unfortunately, the input on the rear of the stereo are Bus inputs. You must use a controller to use those inputs.

I have a sony xr-6559 Cassette radio with cd facillities but don't know which cd changer will work with it

There is a guy online selling this radio with the CD Changer, and he calls it the cdx-51. There is one on ebay for around $45, and you can see it here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sony-CDX-51-CD-Changer_W0QQitemZ290351379165QQcmdZViewItem. Hopefully, with the code, you can find the changer you need.

How do you work the Aux input?

when something is plugged into the jack (mp3 player ect) there should work when you cycle through the options of the deck such as cd, radio, There should be an aux option when it is plugged in.

Hook the remote leads from your amplifiers to the blue/white wire at the back of the Sony head unit.

hi sounds like you have the amps switching on via the aerial remote and not the amp remote. easy way to test this is to switch the AF or traffic function on your radio. if this cures the problem then you have the amp remote and aerial remote connected around the wrong way regards Mark www.carradiospares.co.uk
