Question about Chi Mei Corporation 221A Monitor

1 Answer

No Input Signal

Hi When I start my computer monitor starts fine but will go black (as if in sleep mode but will not restart but computer is still running) green light goes to orange. Works if I connect another monitor to my computer at same time but is very annoying. Monitor is 11 months old. Had this problem when first received it and returned it to store and they replaced the monitor and it is now happening to this one. Any solutions?

I have the same problem with the 22" Chimei "No Input Signal". When computer is awaken the Chimei stays orange light. I have to restart computer for the Chimei LCD to work again (green light).
Also now when computer starts, the Chimei starts up ok, but when Windows starts up I get the dreaded "No Input Signal"
I can get into Windows under VGA mode, but if I change resolution I get the "No Input Signal".
Have changed VDO cards still same problem.

My monitor reports a "No Input Signal" problem when booting Windows Vista 64... but can start fine in safe mode, to try and solve this I have reinstalled all driver software, but still does not solve the problem, my monitor is a CMV223D and is about 1 month old.

What is the fix for this problem?

    Hi All,

I have this problem too.. seems to happen every time there is a windows update. I managed to fix it by unplugging the Digital and using AGP.. restart PC... then unplug AGP use Digital again and Voila! but for some reason it hasnt worked with this latest upgrade

Same problem as all of the above. It's very sporadic, and if I mess with it long enough, I can get it back up and running, but there's no telling when it will lose it's input signal again.

The "solution" below is not accurate. The problem is not with the connection, it sounds very much like a problem with this monitor model.

Dont Panic it is Nothing...
Your Monitor is safe...
If it say "no Input signal" - "Check VGA cable"

it means that the Monitor is finding signals from the computer, and the cable is either not connected or unsecurely connected.

I changed some setting for the computer resolution and now my monitor just says no input signal..the hard drive turns on and then goes into sleep mode and says no input signal. How can i fix this problem?

Possible reason is that input signal goes out of range that probably a Screen refresh rate that the monitor cannot handle. Instead of bursting into flames, the monitor shuts itself
down as a protection feature. Look at the monitor manual if you got one.

Safe Mode should allow the monitor to work in the problem account.

Try this.

Boot in Safe Mode (see below)
Switch users to the problem account
Right click the desktop
Select Properties
Click the Settings tab
Click the Advanced button
Click the Monitor tab
Select: Hide modes that this monitor cannot display
Select a different Screen refresh rate
Click Apply twice and then Click OK

Or try this:-
power on the system and press and hold F5.
When a screen appers with some option, try to find a option something realted with VGA setting.
Click that option and let pc start normally.
It will surely work

I have a blank screen on my HPf1905 monitor. I have a HPm7330n computer. How do I know if its the monitor or the video card? Monitor shows a message no input signal, then goes to sleep mode.

if the message you recieve is no input signal if only means that you have a problem with your video card, the monitor is fine but you need to have your video card check

No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.

Monitor goes to sleep and never wakes up

I have called HP Technical Support 6 times about this issue and have logged at least 14 hours into the issue. The things they have done are turn all sleep settings in the "Power Options" in the control panel to "never". The problem persisted. Today, they sent my problem to the complaints department, so maybe they will have the authority to do something for my 5 week old setup.

For me, the monitor was in the "other devices" part on the device manager (go to start menu and type device, and the device manager will show up). I went to HP's website to the support and drivers spot and found a patch for the My Display program. This will allow you to uninstall your monitor, just right click the monitor under "other devices" and click uninstall. After you uninstall, restart and your computer will recognize the and put it under "monitors" in the device manager with the updated drivers. After I did this, the monitor hasn't gone to sleep.

When your computer is starting up, hit F8 and you'll see the safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc. screen...You should see a choice that says "enable vga mode". Select that and windows will start and the os will select a screen resolution for you. After that, everything will work fine...I hope.

Good Luck!

When I select sleep or hibernate mode - the monitor stays black...

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.

OK I have the same monitor, I was given it by a client when I couldnt fix it, I DO have the 19V supply and still getting the same problem.

If you open it and reseat all connections you can reach, I find it starts to work. Unfortunately after less than a few days use it goes off again.

Hopefully this can help someone get further
