Check your printer under the control panel menu. Delete any pending print jobs, this may be where the hang up is

Hi,

  1. Click start --> Control panel --> Printer and faxes
  2. Right click on printer 'C4200 series' and select 'Set as default printer'.
  3. Right click again on the same printer icon and select 'Use printer Online'.
  4. Try Printing.
  5. You can delete the icon that says 'C4200 series(copy1)' if you are not using it.

C4200 printer is woking only at a very slow rate that is to say prints two inches at a time instead of printing a full sheet

For products with keypads on the control panel:
1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold “# and 6′ keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.
For Box-type models:
1. Unplug the power cord from the printer.
2. Wait for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cable back in the printer and turn it on.

HP photosmart C4200 - alignment disable

I've run into this problem. The first simple thing to look at is the aligment page itself. Does it have colors on it or is it strictly greyscale/black and white? If your color cartridge is empty/a knockoff/not installed correctly, the printer will just print the alignment page in black/white and not necessarily notify you of a problem. However, the cartridges won't align if the aligment page isn't printed in color.

This is clearly a screw-up by HP, because there is nothing to notify you of this problem in the software or manual. The printer will automatically print an aligment page, and then tell you to scan it. If they did it right there would be some error message notifying the user that it couldn't print an aligment page rather than print one that is worse than useless.

I have C4200 All-in-One printer.I install new color cartridge, printed align sheet, put it on glass, hit color button. I'm still stuck; this is second question today. There is small window which says click...

Are you sure that there is not an "OK" button and you don't push the actual screen? I am guessing you have to find an "OK" button. I don't think that machine has a touch screen interface. I hope this helps.

I have C4200 All-in-One printer. I installed a new color catridge. I printed align sheet, put it on glass, clicked color button. But when I try to make a copy, all I get is another alignment sheet.

The alignment procedure is usually required after replacing an ink cartridge and you haven't yet completed or paid attention to the instructions it provides to fully complete it. Once completed it will return to normal operation.
