The lock light is highlighted on the set top box & I cannot get it off. Consequently I cannot use the remote control. Nothing in the instruction manual to help me, does anyone know how to fix it?

I have a 61" hitachi projection tv model 54379 from sears do i need a converter box and what kind

You will need a standard definition converter box for that set for OTA
transmissions.

Or if you have cable, the box will have the appropriate video and audio outputs for the set.

My KDS-60A2000 only can get my pc input 8 to show anything. says aging fan at top of screen and no input at bottom. Other inputs show nothing and green led blinks 30x before turning on

I will presume you unplugged the set and waited and plugged it back in?

Also if using a box do the same (neither can hurt and may help)

As far as a fan issue---it may be the case or what can happen is the fans get coated with dirt and dust and slow down which triggers this type of alert.

Dust can be blown out but careful not to blow it into the set's image area or inside the screen.

Short of that locate inside the fans and watch when set turned on--one moving real slow may be the issue if not dirty.

When I turn on the TV, the picture is fuzzy. After five minutes, the picture is clear but any words are out of focus even the menu for adjustments is out of focus. The convergence for red is clear but...

Hi,

Below are some troubleshooting tips for a TV that has a fuzzy or blurry picture;

If your Plasma or LCD TV picture is blurry or fuzzy there are several things that may be causing the problem. It's worth running through the following list before seeking service. You may find yourself saving the full cost of a TV repair.

Make sure you are using the appropriate cable box for your TV. If you have a high-definition TV you should also be using a high-def channel box from your cable provider. Watching standard definition channels on a high-def TV can make the picture look distorted and fuzzy.

Not all cable channels are broadcast in high-definition. When you stretch a standard definition picture to fill the full frame of your wide-screen TV it may look distorted. You can try changing your TV display settings to show standard-def channels at their native resolution. This will create black or gray bands on either side of your picture.

Ideally all of your video components will be connected to your TV with HDMI cables. Your next best option will be component video cables. If your cable box does not have HDMI capabilities, contact your cable company about upgrading your box to one that does include HDMI.

Make sure there is no glare on your TV from a window or other strong light source. This can significantly degrade the quality of the image you are watching.

If your TV has digital noise reduction, try turning that feature on.

You can adjust your TV's sharpness and picture modes to see if that improves picture quality.

Try plugging the power cord into a different electrical outlet and/or surge protector. You may be receiving electrical interference through your power cord.

Trying moving any nearby electrical devices away from the TV. They may be creating interference that can degrade the picture quality.

Let me know if the above helps or not, so that I can direct you further on what do next.....

Best regards.

Word Component1 shows up when changing local channels

Your Direct TV box is switching between a Standard Definition channel and a High Definition channel. When this happens, the TV has to switch the display format. As the format is changing, you will briefly loss picture, the TV detects the new format, and then displays it. What you are seeing is the normal operation of the TV. It the TV did not blank the picture, you would see a broken chopped up picture during the transition. If you are familiar with the setup menu of the Direct TV box, you could change the video format settings so than it locks to the High Definition format. If you are not familiar with the Setup menu, you should contact Direct TV and ask then to walk you though this procedure. Specifically, ask them to "Help me set my Direct TV box so that it always displays in 1080i format." You pay for them for the service, they should be able to provide you with some phone support at no charge. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.

I don't know how a program it, since you change digital.

So far as I know the HLN series does not have an ATSC tuner, thus no over the air (OTA) reception. You can probably still get a $40 coupon for an OTA ATSC to NTSC converter. Note that will NOT get you high definition (HD). With Dish you can get HD receivers that do get OTA ATSC both HD and SD. With Direct, no OTA AFAIK. With cable you would need a QAM tuner, not in your TV AFAIK to get clear channels as required for locals. Otherwise cable needs a Set Top Box for digital and scrambled channels although the standard definition (SD) non-scrambled channels work with your NTSC tuner. Too bad there seem to be no ATSC to 5-cable RCA or HDMI HD converters except Dish. -Ken
