Question about Zebra Eltron LP 2824 Thermal Printer

1 Answer

Printer keeps becoming the Default printer

We have over 50 of these printers connected as a second printer via USB top PC's running Windows 2000. On all of the PC's the other printer is set as the default printer but lots of different staff log on to these PCs and every so often the Zebra suddenly becomes the default printer and the users end up printing all of their work on the labels. Has anyone go any ideas?

Thank you

Andrew

You could try checking in control panel -> printers -> right click each printer and choose set as deafualt -> Only thing is You will probably have to log in as each user (staff) that it occurs with and check these settings.

Also check any printer settings for the application that You use to do labels etc.

Check with each users log on that it doesnt work with

If you have one PC connected to the printer via USB you can share the printer to your Mac computers easily:
If the printer is connected to a Macintosh computer via USB:
1) Open System Preferences
2) Click on Print and Fax
3) Highlight the Printer and Check the box Marked "Share This Printer On The Network"

If the printer is connected to a windows computer via USB:
1) Download "Bonjour Print Services for Windows" from Apple's website
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl999
2) Install it on the PC connected to the Printer.
3) After Installing the Above, Run the Bonjour Printer Configuration Utility and select the Printer you want to share and it will share it over the network to all your apple devices.

Installer of hp 1410

The 1410 drivers are available on the HP website, (www.hp.com) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=458978&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us
Drivers are available for all Operating Systems, Windows 2000 up to Windows 7, Mac OSx and Linux (although I'm pretty sure that the right drivers will be available in Linux via the CuPs system)
General rule of thumb. Install the drivers BEFORE you plug the printer into the computer (via usb).
If you've already connected it and windows has installed the default windows drivers - this may be enough for your needs, but if you're having problems, you'll have to disconnect the printer from the computer and uninstall the drivers.
Go to to start -> Control Panel and then: Add or remove programs (for XP, windows 2000) or Programs (if you're using Windows 7) Find the HP Printer driver in the list of installed programs and select uninstall.
If the driver isn't listed, don't worry, simply download the drivers from the Hp site, double click on the program to start the install process and connect the printer to the computer when it asks. (with most drivers installs just double click to run, read and follow the instructions, mostly it's a case of just pressing "next" until it starts installing.
Remember when you connect the printer to turn it on (button at the front that glows green when you turn the printer on) - you'd be suprised how many people forget that part!

In device manager on each PC right click the network inface card and disable power saving.

Printer printing from PC W/2000 but not with XP

Hi Kmcnew,

This issue could occur if the connections are not proper.

If the printer is connected using USB cable then you need to make sure that the printer is installed on DOT 4 port.

We need to also make sure that the driver for this printer is installed and listed under printers and faxes.
