Use good quality head cleaning cassette and if the result is same, contact Sony Service Center, they have Lapping Cassette for special head cleaning, yet same result, then video head will be replaced.

Gray horizontal lines appears when video heads in camera got dirty / clogged.

The gray strips usually mean the camera has dirt video heads - if it hasn't been dropped. Get a head-cleaning tape from Radio Shack or Best Buy, and run it a few times. If that doesn't do it, it'll have to be cleaned by a repair shop. Off brand tapes sometimes can cause this.
