Restart your computer and exit out of all startup programs as soon as you log and then don't touch a thing then wait. The 2 will turn to a 3 and so on. It will take a half hour to an hour.

Hi, i have acer i5, hwen I turn it on it does not turn on but it displays many words and when i try to boot it from the DVD it does not work, what can i do?

Hello,

By telling me that there is many words on the screen your computer is actually coming on but not completing the boot cycle?

If this is the case, your hard drive may have failed and you are just seeing the main boot screen. During this boot cycle you can try hitting the "DEL key" to stop the boot process and then this should drop you into the bios screen and from there you would look along the top tabs and go to the "BOOT" tab and from there you would change the boot order from the hard drive to the dvd drive if you want to make the system boot from your dvd drive. But, if your hard drive is dead in the water so to speak, you will gain nothing until your replace the drive with a new one and then if you have the restore disk you then would boot from the dvd drive and then follow the on screen instructions to restore your system back to factory new. Good luck. Dennis

Restore to original factory setting

Your computer may have a recovery partition set. Try pressing the Alt & F10 keys during the boot process (during the initial Pre windows black screen stage of the startup process) to obtain the "Boot Menu" and then select "Recovery" (Or similar wording) at the prompt. IMPORTANT: You should be aware that, if you select recovery either from a boot partition or from a recovery CD, that you may lose ALL data on your hard drive during the recovery process. If you are unsure what to do and you have important data on your hard drive that you don't want to lose, then I'd suggest you get a qualified technician to recover your system - if you advise that you have data, they will always try and rescue your stuff before repairing your OS.

When i turn my acer emachine E725 2520 on the power button comes on but display doesn't whats the problem?

Hi percy goodface
Connect your laptop to a different monitor and see if the computer is working.
If it is then your screen is faulty...needs to be replaced.
If your computer is not working then try these tips.
How to reinstall the Operating system on your computer

Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
To start the system recovery:
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
3.If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
3.Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
4.Close the CD-ROM tray.
5.Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
6.The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
7.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

8. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.
Please take time to rate me.

My acer aspire one has a hard drive failure on the following disks IDE/SATA.I diagnosed it then got the following report. HDD doesn't respond to system commands Boot sector damaged read time...

You need to format your hard disk. Please note that formatting will erase all you data from the hard disk and all the software including the Operating system.

If you have your OS master CD you can insert it in the cd/dvd drive and restart the laptop. This will detect the OS CD and try to install it. In the installation process there is an option "Format your hard drive". You should select that option. Then it will format, mark the bad sectors, create a new boot sector and install the OS. You will be just fine.

I just restored my Acer 4315 to factory and then everything went ok until this pre system thing went on nonstoply. I waited and waited and it's still processing. The process stays 1/17 not changing a bit....

Hello,

Yes, that is the Acer preload program setup. May I ask why you performed a restore ? If this is a hard drive problem or a RAM problem, this might be what it does. Either it cannot process the request for installing 1/17 into RAM or has issues when it attempts to write this 1/17 files to disk.

Reboot and see if the problem remains. Do another restore and recheck. Check both RAM and Hard drive for faults.

I've been trying to restore my acer aspire one zg5 to its factory setting, but pressing alt+f10 dont work. i also tried the acer recovery icon and it always show that there is a problem with the...

Follow etaf's instructions above, if you cannot enter the Acer recovery utility try this...

Do not press and hold Alt + F10. Do it like this... From the Acer splash screen press and hold the Alt key while constantly pecking the F10 key.

However, you want to save all of your photos, favorites folder, music etc. on an external disk or flash drive before entering the Acer restore utility above. Anything that DID NOT come pre-installed on your netbook will be lost. Once restored, always, always, always back up your system with an external disk or flash drive as you go, meaning that as you add legitimate software and personal files to your PC and your PC works normally, back it up. It's cheap and the next time this happens you can enter plug in your flash or disk run the restore, and have EVERYTHING back including the stuff that did not come on your system when you bought it.
