Make sure that youre not using the same printer drivers that you were when you were using XP. Uninstall them. Go to and get the Vista drivers for your printer. Intermittent problems have been reported with most of their printers if the drivers haven't been replaced.

How do I replace my ink cartridges on my epson sx425w ?

Follow the below mention steps:
1.First you should make sure you get the correct ink refills. You can order them online, or pick them up at your local office supply store.
2.Go into you MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop, click on change a setting, click printers and fax, and then right click on your Epson printer. Go into properties, then maintenance.
3.Next, click on the refill or replace ink cartridge. It will then move the printer ink refill into position on the printer. Lift the cover and remove the old cartridge.
4.Take the tape off of the new ink cartridge, and snap it into place with the matching color. Close the cover, and push the button on the printer that is blinking. It will take a minute, but should move the ink back into position.
5.On the computer screen, follow the on screen directions. You can then click finish.

Is ink cartridge recyclable? if yes, how?

You cannot recycle ink cartridges yourself, it's only done by the manufacturers. You may be able to refill them but all cartridges aren't re-fillable. It depends on the type, make and model of the cartridges. Hope this helps.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My canon MP 145 printer displayed E5. How can I solve my problem?

E5 means your cartridge error. May I know are you using original ink cartridge or yours has been modified before?
I assume you to refill your ink cartridge before because E5 error won't appear after replacing new cartridge.
So, you need to take out both of your ink cartridge and then use a clean cloth to wipe them. After that, slowly put in back into the printer. If the error is still there after wiping it, try to do it till the error is gone.
I had tested this way with my own printer and it works again without needed to buy a new ink cartridge.
All the best and good luck =)

How can i test my printer is working without insert the catridge

How could you, possibly, really? Depending on what model it is, you can power it up, connect it to a computer with drivers for it, and expect to see a message that it's acutely aware that the thing it needs before it can print is some kind of ink receptacle. The state of the print head (e.g. unclogged, for Epson and other cases which might need a solvent cartridge if they went without use for a bit, and unpresent, for HP and other thermal models) is probably less certain.

You can make a print cartridge emulator if that's a good use of your time, and test it then....

You can ask a local refill company to help out since they stand to lose a little time helping out, I suppose.

The first thing a (human) printer does when printing something though, is to set up a test print on a similar paper stock to the one she wants to run. With ink and a proof sheet.

The HPdeskjet F2410 will not let printer print any page after the 300 pages had printed. It will show us to change the ink cartridge even though it still has ink in the cartridge. I'd like to know whether...

It sounds like you just need to update your printer drivers. You can get the newest drivers from:
There is no pinter limit on how many pages it can print, but you can also check the driver settings by going to start-settings-printers. Double click on the printer in there and you can browse through the settings there.

The ink level is not displayed. Why?

Hi there,

The most likely cause to which an ink level will not be displayed is because the cartridge was refilled, rather than replaced. Most printers nowadays will have a chip on them which tells the printer and the computer when it's running low on ink.

When you refill a chip cartridge, the chip doesn't reset and it still thinks you are empty, even though it still prints. The best means to correcting this issue is to replace the entire cartridge when it's empty. It's not really a problem, it's more of an inconvenience.

If this solution doesn't resolve your problem, please post a response on this page and I will be happy to assist you further.

Best solution i think
How to reset the Canon MP150 (also worked with my MP140 so it might work with others as well) after a refill (Step 10 concerns refill; instructions below the steps):
Method1 (Safe Factory Method):
1) Disconnect the printer's power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
Printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 0.
5) Press + to change the value from 0 to 1.
6) When this value is 1, press colour button; this will light up two leds.
One is for plain paper and the other for photo paper. At this point is feed Printer with paper.
7) Press the power button twice and then press the colour button once. The printer will print a some stuff. Don't worry much about the printed material. I got some stripped lines and some numbers. I believe that my colour cartridge is clogged which explains why I got the green strips.
When you print this sheet the value in the display returns to zero.
8 ) Open Printer's cover cover (not the scanner cover) and remove the cartridges. With Printer still open, disconnect the power outlet.
9) Close the lid and turn on The printer.
10) Refill cartridges and place them back in their nice little abode in The printer.

The printer cannot recognize the ink

What should I do if the printer will not recognize the cartridge after refilling?
  • Turn on the printer and remove both cartridges
  • Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing downwards
  • With adhesive tape, cover the FOUR upper contact points on the far left contact column of both cartridges
  • Reinsert the two cartridges and close the cover
  • Open the cover again after 2 or 3 seconds
  • Wait until the printer gives you the cartridge carriage (If there seems to be a problem with either of the cartridges, ignore it)
  • Open the cover and remove the two cartridges
  • Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing downwards
  • Remove the adhesive tape
  • Clean the contacts, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover.
  • Most imp.
If you refill your cartridges more then 3 times, then it is expired and that's why it is not displayed in your printer. For this, you have to go for ma new cartridge.
    or some these steps
  • Try below steps.May be it will helpful.

    1. I used a Q-tip with Isopropyl Alcohol and cleaned the gold contacts on both the cartridge and the mating contacts in the printer.

    2. Then from the Setup Menu, I found a menu called Tools. From there I ran "Align Print Cartridges".

    3. From the same menu I also ran "Clean Print Cartridges"
    4. I then ran a few test prints by going into the Setup Menu and then choosing "Print Report" and then selecting "Self-Test Report". It prints grid patterns in black & white as well as magenta, yellow and blue. The black grid pattern had some missing lines until I printed this report a few times.

    5. I made a few photocopies and now the printouts no longer have large stripes of missing ink as it did in the earlier steps.

Canon inkjet printer CLI821 how to reset and work after refill

Inkjet printers in general remember around 3 or 4 cartridges that have been installed in the past. One way to fool the printer is to swap a number of different old cartridges and then put the refilled one back in. Another way is to put clear tape over the connector and install the cartridge, cycle the power and then remove the tape.Personally I don't worry about the nagging and tell the driver to just continue printing anyway. It eventually gives up the nagging... LOL
