Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a Marantz CD42 - it has served me well over many years. The only problem with it is the door no longer opens. After opening the lid I can see that the small plastic wheel, which the band sits on to cause the door to open and close is broken. Do you know anywhere where I can get this part?

Search for this on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300282821029

or search for CDM4 gear.
Had the same problem with mine and this sorted it.

How do I locate and replace the internal amp fuse?

If you open the case you should be able to see the fuse pretty easily, they are the old glass tube type that are mounted on the power board. If you need a schematic you can look for the sams photofact website. That is the best one for those.

Marantz SR-7200 reset

This was documented on the Marantz website briefly a year ago and is no longer available. My SR-7200 develops "click/pop" problems and a reset cures it of these issues.

While powered "off," on the front panel, press: A/D + FP +Dimmer (3 buttons) and power the unit on.

This reverts to original (out of box) settings. You then must reprogram input sources, speaker setup, levels and radio stations.

I HAVE A MARANTZ SR880. WHEN I SWITCH IT ON, IT STAYS ON STANDBY MODE. WHEN I SELECT INPUT, IT CLICKS AND THE STANDBY LIGHT FLICKERS. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Hi,
Possibilities for dry soldering. its a Common problem with this model. Also can happen because of aging . Its tedous procees to open and repair the av receivers. Its better to find expert who can do it for you. i think Marantz authorized service center will not do this as its an out dated model .

Marantz CDR500 has record bay which no longer opens. I was told some time back that this is not repairable and that Phillips, who made the drive, no longer makes them so it is essentially a total loss. ...

This is a tricky one, because from the view of an authorized Marantz servicer, the replacement "part" is probably the entire drive which may no longer be available. It is possible that the true problem is that the main drive belt is slipping. In that case, replacing the belt will fix the problem. As long as the unit is not under warranty, any service shop should be able to attempt a repair. They can not make it worse and perhaps can resolve it cheaply.
