Are Propane LPG fryers compatible with Butane LpG

Talk to the manufacturer or check your owners manual. The jets in the burner must be slightly smaller for butane. The flame will burn yellow with black soot/smoke if you don't change them.

I have a Vulcan deep fryer. Converting from gas to LP. Changed out the orifices. Bought high pressure propane regulator. No smell of propane into fryer. Plug unit in and no power to electric...

Hi There. You have not mentioned that you also replaced the spring inside the gas valve suited for propane, please check. I strongly advise not to modify the unit's ignition system nor bypass safety device, this is for your own good. Check the gas valve spring first.

I have a Vulcan lg400 propane fryer I have used 4 times at outdoor catering events over the last year yesterday while using it it began what I would call backdrafting. could low propane level in bottle...

It sure did. Never use a gas fryer in low gas pressure for a long time for soot will build up inside the fire tubes.
Check and clean fire tubes, make sure that the flue is not restricted and there should be no air entering the flue.
Regards.

I am not sure what what model number I have, but when I try to light this older Vulcan deep fryer it doesn't light at all nor do I smell any propane. It's as if it's not getting any gas.

This is our number one issue with gas fryers... Not being able to get the unit lite.... Normally our service techs tell our customers they are not holding down the pilot light button long enough. The sensors in there take some time to get hot enough to send a signal to the pilot telling it to light... If you need someone to walk you through it, call Ray at 888-542-5959, at Restaurant Equipment Outlet.

We have a 2grs45 Vulcan Deep Fryer and would like to convert it from nat gas to propane. What do we need to do?

You need to Order a conversion jet or set of Jets , if more than one from the Manufacturer of the
Deep Fat Fryer, or from your local Retailer.
Just ask for an L.P.G. Conversion Kit for the model of Fryer you have.
The ofirice in the conversion Jets will have been cut to suit the type of Gas you intend using
and so all you should have to do is change the Jet/s.

Imperial ifs 40: gas comes out of jet and the burners work fine for a moment, then the flame ignites inside the burner and makes a worbling noise every now and then popping. is this low gas...

Check your manual and make sure your burner is configured for the gas that you are using. In most cases, there is an orifice that needs to be changed for using LP, or a screw setting that needs to be changed- most new appliances ship with a "city gas" configuration ( AKA NG - Natural Gas) and need to be configured for LPG (Liquified Propane Gas). The fitting(s) that need to be changed are tagged. This is due to the pressure difference between NG and LPG. Propane (LPG) runs at a higher pressure.
You state that your fryer is LPG. If you are running it on NG ("city gas") you need to consult your manual for converting it to NG. Outside of making sure that you are set up for the right gas, you should not have to make any other adjustments. For safety reasons, gas regulator pressure adjustments are for the most part no longer possible on gas appliances.
