I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum. It starts and 3 seconds later it dies. It does that about 3 times and then it wont even turn over. This happened about a 4 days ago and again today. I am getting ready to take it to the shop. I was told it was the transmitter in the key. Does that sound correct? I know there could be other problems, but since it ran fine for 4 days in between I figured that would be the most logical explaination.

If it was the key or the theft deterrent system it would have a light on dash with a key symbol I would check the relays in the power dist box for crank and ign make sure there good and if you have another key try it also and it's possible the receiver for tds is bad is is in the column and is around the ign switch

SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Magnum w/out hemi stalling

I have a 2005 Magnum and was also having this problem. Stalled out a few times and continued to idle rough and feel like it was going to die when I would slow down. At times it would feel like I would get a hesitation and then a surge. Engine light would go on for a day or so, then go out for a few days. First time I took it in, the dealership told me that it was a broken seal (I don't know where), but they replaced it and it continued to happen. The second time I took it to a mom & pop shop, and they told me that it was the oxygen sensor/altimeter, replaced it (only a $35 part), and I haven't had a problem since. That was 6 months ago. Hope this helps...

SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Magnum, after replacing battery,cd player won't work

My story Dealing with Dodge

I had a 1994 Dodge Ram. The Red Dodge Ram I had it malfunctioned and my brake became the throttle. I had to put the truck in reverse then park. to stop, after it was out of control at 80 mph a hill slowed us down. Are you sure its not electrical and the curse control is not giving you trouble? Mine had multifunction switch was not working and the headlight switch burned up. I also found out that Audi had problem with the brake becoming the throttle in the 1980s Daimler Chrysler and Audi were German made. I don't think there is an easy answer. I hope you stay safe. Another man is having strange trouble also. I'm sure there are many more people with trouble with the vehicles. I wish Dodge would step up to the truth. and recall their nightmares. I saw many of their 1996 Dodge trucks at their dealers shop with all the electrical pulled out.

SOURCE: 2005 dodge magnum 3.5 liter engine. 10 deg start engine noise

these have a problem with the overhead cams, one or more of the bolts break which restricts the oil flow to the lifters.

Engine overheated, now car won't start without giving it gas

Some cars cut off as a fail safe to overheating especially on newer cars. The computer controls the fans and if they are not working the computer is probably telling the car to shut off. Have you replaced the motors already, if not, this is what's happening. Once you replace the motors it should run fine. I wouldn't suggest driving it too much with this problem as it may affect the computer by giving it false info.
