GSI-26 ice maker will not eject ice

The ice maker fills, freezes the water into ice and ejects the ice correctly MOST of the time. Intermittently, however, the eight ejected cubes of ice will freeze to the back of the ejector bar causing the ejector fingers to stop their motion in a vertical down position. The cube tray will refill and now the ejector fingers will be frozen into the center of the next batch of eight ice cubes. If the stuck condition is discovered before the ejector fingers are frozen into the next cubes, the problem is solved by breaking of the eight cubes that are frozen to the back of the ejector bar. The ejector bar and fingers rotate to the normal aft horizontal positon. Everything will then work normal for as much as 2/3s of a tray of ice cubes then the ejector bar will freeze again before the finger return to the correct postion. Any ideas for a solution?

Welcome to the sub-zero iced up ice makers club. I have the same problem. It does work some times and then freezes up at other times. It's always the two or thee cubes and ejectors closest to the water dispenser. Anyone got any ideas?

SOURCE: Ice maker jammed. Ejector fingers in incorrect position.

The ice maker should make an attempt to get the fingers in the correct position on its own. If it doesn't then it probably is bad. I always that out the jammed ice cube with a hair dryer till the fingers move over to the harvest position. No need to remove the ice maker. Their is going to be a fouled ice cube on these newer ice makers from time to time.

Where you say occasionally, I would suspect a rough edge on your stripper arm or a ejector arm slightly out of alignment.

My Maytag ice maker stopped working; ice on doors & draw; What do you think might be causing this?

As odd as this sounds, my Maytag MFX2570AEM stopped making ice. I could feel ice in the tray but it suddenly stopped ejecting or making more even when the bar was in the correct position.

I read many articles telling me the motor was dead, the gears for removing the ice from the tray needed to be replaced, etc. THEN, I read one person who responded that his issue was resolved with a HAIR DRYER. It turns out something about the unit had frozen due to water getting on it, etc.

Sure enough, after blowing a hair dryer into the ice maker for 5-7 minutes I replaced the ice maker drawer and in about a minute it ejected the ice and filled the trays with water again. It has been making ice ever since.

My ice maker isn't getting water in to make ice. I can manually pour water into the maker, let it freeze, and get the maker to get the ice out, but no water comes in. GE model GSHS5KGX. Side by side...

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects theb you need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge.

The most likely reason for this happening is a defective Click Here=> 241734301 Triple Water Control Valve These valves are located on rear of refrigerator and near floor where the water supply enters your Refrigerator. CLICK HERE=> FRS26H5ASB9 USE AND CARE GUIDE
The valve location is listed on page 5 of the Use and Care Guide, If you do not have Adobe Reader Click Here=> Adobe Reader X (10.1.0) This problem is typical as a leaky faucet that drips even when the water valve is turned off. Ice maker stopped making ice. Water line is hooked up and working. Just won't eject ice

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------But if ice is getting made in the ice tray, but the ice is not ejecting out then there is blockage to the ice ejecting blade.May be some ice is got stuck below inside.Clear all ice frost collected under the ice chamber. And then see.---------------

You can get required parts from sears part direct online site or from site.

This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Currently the water is leaking from the ice maker. there is ice build up in the control box its self, and its leaking from there. No sure how the water is getting in tot he control box itself so i'm...

You are right - it is filling up with too much water. If you remove the front panel of ice maker you will find a screw there that adjusts the length of time that the solenoid stays open to admit water. Turn it counter clockwise to reduce the time and amount of water entering the ice maker.

Ice maker jammed. Ejector fingers in incorrect position.

Is the position off - or the icetray heater failed?
Just before ejection - there is a heater element that warms the ice for easy discharge.

Check that the heater is working.
