Sounds like the unit overheated and locked up the processor. This is a comon problem with the 360. Two things. 1) there is a lawsuit in process on the 360. google xbox lawsuit and see if you qualify to get in on this. If not then look for a repair kit. I am not sure if I can refer a specific place or not. But if you google 360 ring of death fix you should find a few quality sites that sell the fix for it. Keep in mind that the fix repair should be no more than $15.00 if it is more they are taking you for a ride. It is an easy fix. Screws and washers is about all it takes. You will also have to do a lot of tear down and play with the heating of the processor a little but if you follow the directions that come with the kit you should have no problems. I repair these things as part of my electronics repair business. (I do not take mail in's though, so I am not trying to solicit business!) But I say that to say that it is not a hard repair. I would suggest a excellent site but I don't think I can by fixit rules. Sorry!!!

Red light blinks and wont stay on when push power button

You can do this fan test.

Turn the main switch off, hold the eject button.

While holding the eject button, turn the main switch on, when the power light is green, release it and you should hear a beep.

The fan will operate at the highest speed possible and will eject any disc that is inside.

After about 15 seconds the fan will stop spinning and the ps3 will beep 3 times and the red light will blink. When this happens, turn the main switch off and on then turn it on normally.

Tell me how this goes!!

Red light flashes when turned on, cant even eject disc

Try to do these 3 things.1 - Restart your console.
2 - Take out all cables, and plug them back in.
3 - Take out the hard-drive, and place it back in your PS3 console.

Try this to take the disc out:
1. turn the PS3 off from the back
2. Put a finger on eject button
3. then turn PS3 on from back with finger still on eject button
4. disk should come out

Disc wont eject red mains light flashing

Turn off your PS3 entirely. Then, flip the backswitch and Eject button at the same time. The cooling fans will start to blow at max capacity to blow out all the interior dust. even ejects discs

My PS3 wont turn on it just flashes a yellow light then red light that beeps cant get disc out

I found a way to eject the disk:
  1. Power off the PS3 on the main switch on the back of the console
  2. Press and hold the Eject button
  3. Turn on the main power switch
  4. The PS3 LED will go green and the fan will spin at max speed
  5. Wait a few seconds and press the eject button a couple of times, the disk should now eject
  6. watch the PS3 die after 30s or so…
This procedure did not fix my PS3 but at least I got my disk back before sending it to Sony for repair.

Xbox360 will not read some games sometimes or will start then go

The "Unplayable Disc" error has also been heavily reported. The error appears to be limited to the Hitachi-LG CD/DVD ROM drives that replaced the earlier Toshiba-Samsung drives. The error message is preceded by a loud series of grinding noises and the system returning to the dashboard. From that point forward, any disc that is put in the unit will result in the "Unplayable Disc" error (although if the user was to eject and close the disc tray in quick succession the disc may sometimes play). In the majority of cases, this error is caused by the adhesive that holds a small magnetic washer heating up and allowing the washer to affix itself to the metal top of the drive. After this occurs, the system can no longer spin the disk as necessary. Numerous fixes are available on the internet, but all involve opening the console box. Opening the console will result in the unit's warranty being voided. Microsoft will fix the error for a fee . Included in the repair fee is one additional year of warranty coverage.

if you dont give a damn about warranty

open it up and clean the drive and wipe everything down with a q-tip. and replace it back

thank you

Xbox wont start spinning disc

Sounds like your drive died. Try looking inside to make sure nothing is stuck insde the drive (disc label, another disc, lumps of dust). Try spraying it out with canned air (they sell it at computer stores). If not.. send it to microsoft for repair.

Disk wont spin?

If its still under warranty, and the seal hasn't been cracked, contact Microsoft.

Try what hijackthis1 suggested, if that doesn't fix it, try this.

Since you have the 360 apart, and the top cover off of the dvd drive, here we go...

There's a circular cut-out that's glued to the top cover that you removed from the dvd drive, right below the sticker with all of the drive information. I was able to pop out the cut-out. After that you now have (3) pieces in your hand, the cover, cut-out, and a plastic piece.

Connected the dvd drive back in the 360 with the top cover off.

Put a game or movie in the drive, don't hit the eject botton, just put the disc in the tray.

Now with the disc in the tray, put the plastic piece in the center of the disc. Its magnetic, so it should kind of lock in to place.

Connect the power/av cords in the 360 and turn her on.

You should see the disc try to spin. (It may spin once or a couple times around, but it will stop). When you see the disc start to spin, GENTLE, spin/turn the disc in the direction in wants to go. It should load the game or dvd with no problems.

Reassemble the cover and put back on the dvd drive.

Now use the eject botton, and try games and dvds.

If disc fails to spin, do process over again.

I've done this with one of my 360's with no problems.
The drive I used was an Hitachi 0059DJ.
