Sounds like the power supply board blew. You can purchase a new one directly from Vance Baldwin. They are the only parts supplier for Vizio. http://www.vancebaldwin.com/

It's just plug and play. remove the old circuit board and replace with the new one. Not difficult and it should solve your problem for less than $100.

Reset the TV to its factory settings. For more details, refer its user manual. Unplug the TV from AC mains socket, and replug it after some time, say after 2 minutes or so.

Our power went out, and our tv wont turn back on, is there a reset switch?

sometimes you can reset the mainboard by unplugging the set for 30minutes to 1 hour and see if it resets. If that doesn't work, you can try holdin down the channel down and volume down button on the tv itself at the same time you plug in the unit and see if that helps

Tv shuts off by itself

Let your unit cool down for 30 mins. Give a proper ventilation by keeping away all obstruction in the airway. Your unit has a heat sensor, when it reached the peak temperature allowed the unit will automatically shuts down.
If the symptom still there after giving a proper ventilation I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the problem might caused by out of regulation caused by faulty electrolytic capacitor and regulator IC on the power supply.
Have a nice day! Thanks for using fixya.

Normally new screens run about 100.00 less than a new tv costs and then you have to get it installed! There is now easy way around it. You would be better off just to get a new one>

Bad capacitors in the power supply. Open it up and look for swollen electrolytics.

No Power

It appears that the power supply is starting to fail. It is also possible that there is another board in the set that is over-loading the supply.

The nature of the fault indicates the strong possibility that there are some parts that have become thermo sensitive. This is not a reset problem going by your description. Unplugging the set, is allowing the boards to cool down, and therefore they will work for a while until the thermo sensitive parts heat up again.
