Haier 9,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

I own the Haier 9,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner - White
For two days it was been blowing out a really bad smell. Today I checked my unit to find out that there was a leak on my floor. This chemical leak is the same smell that my unit is blowing out. What should I do?

The compressor is probably bad. This is what some do when they are failing. The compressor is the heart of the unit and very costly to have replaced. Only a licensed technician can do this for you. The EPA regulates the refrigerants used to complete this job. In most cases it is cheaper to simply replace the unit then to fix it. If it is new I suggest exchanging it for another one on warranty.

SOURCE: My Haier 8,000 BTU air

I had that same problem, find the remote and use that to turn it on / off. It solved the problem for me, for whatever reason. You will need to use the remote until the buttons start working again, took mine a few days. I have no idea what was wrong with it.

SOURCE: My Haier 5,200-BTU Window Air Conditioner keeps freezing up.

You need to clean the unit outside(take it out of the window) with a water hose because it is dirty inside( you have to remove screws on cover and take cover off), be sure to cover the electronic control board with plastic so you don't get it wet.Clean fins on front and back with water hose and inside .

Why is it not blowing air

You said it doesn't blow air - but does it show any sign it is getting power such as a pilot light or LCD display? If not:
First, check the power outlet - is it live? Does the plug fit securely? No extension cord, right?
Second, plug the unit into another outlet - preferably the one where it worked before, if it's not too far away. Don't use an extension cord.
Third, let it sit for 24 hours. Sometimes moving a portable unit can require a waiting period before use.
Fourth, check all the access panels to make sure they are snug. Sometimes they have microswitches that shut off power when opened. Moving the unit could have dislodged one.
Good luck!

this style unit needs an exhaust hose attached to the rearand be placed out the window to exhaust the heat that is removed from the air in the room, you will also have to empty the condensate drain bucket when it gets full.

Unit triping braker when compressor turns on

the breaker is underrated the power that it takes to start the compressor is really big but only for a few seconds. That is called the inrush and the breaker should be rated for HVAC wich allows for this.

Demby portable Capacity: 11,000 BTU air conditioner

This unit is sized to approx a 35 square metres area at a normal 2.4 metre ceiling height. All I would recomend without actually seeing the problem is to check this measurement and close all windows and doors. The unit is most likely undersized, but check the air temp coming off the unit. It should be about 10 degrees.

Remote is not working anymore...how to control temp??

I bought the 9,000 btu and the remote stopped working the second time I used it. I returned it and bought the 7,000 btu and the exact same thing happened; it died the second time I used it. The only thing I noticed, not sure why, but if I take the batteries out of the remote for a while and put them back in, it works. Not being able to control it without the remote is definitely a design flaw.
