Question about Toshiba (K000680310) for Satellite 1605CDS, 1625CDT, 1675CDS, 1695CDT
I have a Toshiba Satellite 6125CDT that I just bought on Ebay. It is a pentium III, core2, 192MB RAM, New 40GB HDD, COA WIN98/NT and has WIN ME installed. I have a Windows XP Professional (authentic) CD that I have tried to upgrade with several times. It gets to the step of preparing the installation and part way through it gives me a message that a file "can't be read by the optical device being used." That would be the CD ROM. It does this on three files which are critical for installation so when it restarts my computer to intall the files, it won't load. I have to turn off the computer and reboot into Windows ME. Can you tell me why this happens and what I can do? I'm very frustrated. I had considered uninstalling ME but that worries me because I don't have any other OS software other than XP. Help!
