A box with information (channel, program, time) shows up all the time and I have tried everything i can to make it go away.  It is extremely annoying and gets in the way of watching tv.  I have tried to turn closed captions off but there is no option to turn it off.  Please somebody help me because I can not STAND this little blue box at the top of my screen.

The black box is caused by the Closed Caption option of the tv. Go into the menu and turn it off.

When i get the black screen over my picture the size of a computer screen, i push the little round button between the volume and the channel selector on the remote. It has two little circular arrows on it. It takes the screen off momentarily, but on certain channels it stays there. Not for sure what the problem is, and why it does it, but some channels are worse than others.

Nothing you did wrong here. Use the warranty. I would take it back and change it. Problems right out of the box is a bad sign. Could have been shipping problem to the store that caused this. You shouldn't have to pay a dime.

Black box in middle of screen

It's a text box for either closed captioning or demonstration mode. Go into the setup menu and turn off closed captioning. If you have trouble doing that, then just restore factory settings.

Black box in front of picture

If it's the box, just press the CCD button on the controller until you see CCD off .(Try this one first since it just started with the box)

If it's the TV,just go into the setup options and turn off the closed caption feature.

I'm guessing its the "CC", closed captioning. You have to turn it off, it's either in your menu or you have a button the remote saying either, Text or CC.

On the reomte control (bottom) left of the sleep button is a cc button, push that until "OFF" appears on the screen. The close caption box should disappear. It worked for me, finally.

i had the same problem with my rca truflat.. i read from a posting of a similar problem with a different tv brand to switch your closed caption options 'off' or set it to a 'cc' option instead of the 't' options.. (this was done through the on-screen menu..) i gave it a try and it worked for my tv.. hope it works for you..
