Your car will not release into park unless you have charge in the battery. There is an electric solenoidwhich keeps it from releasing. It's used for safety reasons in case your kids are playing in the car.

How to put 2007 Chrysler300 gear into natural when the car battery is dead and the key stopped working

If you're unable to push the gear shift into neutral in a 2007 Chrysler 300 when the car battery is dead and the key has stopped working, there is a solution that can help. You can locate the shift interlock override mechanism to manually put the vehicle into neutral. First, remove the plastic cover or cap located near the gear lever to reveal the shift interlock override slot. Insert a small screwdriver or a similar tool into the slot and apply gentle pressure while simultaneously attempting to move the gear lever into neutral. This should release the shift interlock mechanism and allow you to shift the car into neutral. It's important to exercise caution and consult the vehicle's manual for precise instructions tailored to your specific model, as the process may vary slightly.

My 1999 Plymouth GRAND Voyager will not shift into park OR neutral therefore it won't start of course. Battery is good. Panels lights go on.

we can not see you shift.
PRNDL , car will crank in N and P, both.
park lockout is safety feature.
all fuses good.
battery charged (under hood)'
brake lamps most work.
sure likeage can fail for sure. they told you the truth.
park lock out locks it in to park
and can not be shift out until brake applied and brakes glow. rear (brake fuse not blown)
then if did shift out of park and not lever is dead
that means the linkages is bad.\

NO it will start in Neutral. all cars do but the most rare of odd honda's
fly past neutral means cable is broke me but cant feel your shifter lever.
the shifter has 2 ends of linkages, top side and under car. to trans.

removing the PRNDL switch means engine can never crank again, P/N now dead.
my guess is this is cave man simple bad linkage.
a simple lever device, and link

Volkswagen eos 2008 stuck in park dead batty

There is usually a little hatch near the gear selector that has a rubber plug over it and you take that out and depress a lever in the hole with a key and then you can move the gear selector into N and push the car out.

My battery is dead and I can't move the car due to the auto gear shift stuck in park. How do I move the car to get a jump on the battery?

if you look on the center council where the shift lever is you will see a small plastic button on the drivers. Remove the button. Insert a small screwdriver into the hole and push down. You will then be able to move the shift lever into nuetral and push the car.

My 2003 Grand Am will not go into park

Try putting it into neutral, then apply the parking brake, then try to remove your key.

The problem is the BTSI or Brake-Transmission Interlock. It is a safety feature designed to allow the car out of park only when the brake is pressed, and only allow the key to turn to lock in the ignition when properly parked. Your car is not "recognizing" that your in fact, properly mechanically parked. If my first instructions did not work; try the following...you will need both hands simultaneously and one foot.

*This only applies if your battery is not dead*

Apply the brake;
then with your right hand, push in your shift lever button and push the lever forward as far as will go...hold firmly.
Then with your left hand, try to turn your key to lock and remove it.
However if your battery is dead, look at your shift console. You will see a plastic tab next to your shift lever, it may have a "12V" label next to it. Beneath this tab is the switch for emergency power to get your key out of the ignition on a dead battery.
