Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook
I face a strange issue with T30. Most of the time when i turn on my T30, it does not turn on. only the "Power On" and "Battery" light stays on and other lights are not lit. Sometimes, however, the machine turns on properly and behanves well..i am foxed what this problem is. I have tried removing battery pack, cleaning and putting it back as well as removing RAM and reinserting it properly.
Any help or experience would be great
This could be a couple of different things. First, remove the battery and start with AC power only. Sometime batteries will malfunction and cause this. Second, remove the memory and try starting with one chip in, then change out the chips and try. And third, this could be that the hard drive is begging to fail. If the hard drive doesn't initialize and the machine can't read it, then it will appear to be on without running. Usually it's with the small electric motor in the drive. Next time it doesn't start, listen to see if you can hear the drive spinning, if you can't, then it's the hard drive. Run through these one at a time, if you find that one helps then you don't need to follow on down the list.
