Press and hold [A>B/o] and [power/play/pause] buttons for four or so seconds. A screen pops up and like press the center, silver ['ok'] button about four times as a password or something. Doing this process wont delete your files or mess around with your settings.

Can't charge and not recognised by PC

I'd just try a basic quick reset (Hold menu and center button for 10 seconds). If not, try out some of the methods on this site. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-11292_7-6386369-1.html

Ipod will fully charge but only lasts a short time. whats wrong?

My little brother gave me his ipod shuffle for the same reason, saying the battery was dying and would only play for half an hour after a full night's charge. However, I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway and it always lasts for several hours (long enough that it's never died, so I don't know an actual time).

Anyway, it turned out to be a usb hardware problem. His old computer wasn't built to charge via usb, so the ipod would take what little it could and flop five songs later. I don't know what kind of hardware you're running, but perhaps you could try plugging it into a different computer and seeing if that chnges things?

I would also recommend looking into wall chargers, if that is the case. Otherwise the convenience factor kinda goes out the window.

on your itouch, press and hold the home and the power button until the apple appears and it reboots.
do you have more than one item here?
the ipod press and hold the Menu button and the action/center button untill it reboots.
if neither work your charger is toast. get an a/c charger and charge them real good and you will be fine.
Good luck

My sansa e260 wont turn on or charge

I had the same problem. Place the device into hold and press the menu and mic buttons at the same time. The first time I tried it, I had no response and then I pressed the same buttons again and my e260 came back to life.
After getting my e260 to come on, I updated the firmware and everything has been working.
