Question about Canon IMAGERUNNER 6570 Copier

1 Answer

Canon pc-6RE copier

After the toner cartridge, the first copy has some smudges, the next a lot, after that the copies are almost completely black. I've tried 3 cartridges, so the problem must be somewhere else.

Check the drum for toner leaking, sounds like the drum blade.
the drum is a shiny cylinder inside the machine, open and and see if it has black rings

Did you change the toner cartridge? If so, then check the fuser for a stripe on it which may be toner. Make sure the inside of the copier is clean. However your symptom sounds like a faulty toner cartridge. Try swapping it out.

Very ''dirty'' copies, despite cleaning.Black lines and black smudges all over the copies. Copier (used) delivered to me 2 days ago, does toner need to settle perhaps?

I would guess you need a new toner cartridge. Improper toner distribution would not cause the problems you are describing.

Canon PC6re copier makes copies that are dark on the long edges

Just fyi, a Canon PC-6e is a copier that is about ten + years old of a model... The drum unit will make the copies better.... But, you most likely need to clean the optic's. Have you tried to make the copies lighter??? If I am correct, there is a small botton on the control pannel that will turn... It will make the copies light one way and darker the other way... Good Luck

Canon PC 6RE: Copies are "ink streaked". I purchased Cleaning Sheets but they didn't do much good. Charles

It's most likely the toner cartridge failing, pull out the toner cartridge, and slide back the drum shutter to check if there is toner on the drum. if so, it is failing, otherwise it is the fuser and not worth repairing.

Sounds like your drum cartridge might be bad.
Something you can try that might narrow down the problem is to make a copy of something and shut the copier OFF in mid copy.
(Basically, when the light is about 1/2 way finished scanning.)
Then, open the machine up and removed the jammed paper which should be 1/2 way through your machine and hopefully about 1/2 way under the drum/toner cartridge unit.

See how the copy looks at that point. **** FYI **** The toner on the paper is NOT FUSED so it will RUB OFF. Keep the paper away from your clothes and toss it.
IF your copy has smudges on it, then there is a real good chance that your drum unit is bad and needs to replaced.

If the copy looks good, then there is a possibility that the fuser unit is bad and needs to be repaired.

I would say that your drum unit is bad with my experience with Canon Copier.

If you still have more questions, feel free to ask.
Have a good day.
Good luck.

PC-65 (Canon copier)

A smudge across the copy can be in many different areas.
Some ideas.
The drum cleaner may be the problem as you indicate.
It may be a piece of paper ripped of dragging across the surface of the paper causing the smudge.
Also the fuser roll coating may be very worn and causing that.
One thing to try that can show you if the defect is on the drum cartridge, is start to run a copy, After the paper feeds and this is timing, shut the machine off when you think the paper should be about half way through the copy cycle, then see if the copy defect is on the unfused page, If it is smeared before it reaches the fuser, it is in the cleaning section, if it is not smudged, then it is most likely the fuser rollers are needing replaced.
First look for a paper fragment in the path, step 2 is to shut the machine down in mid copy and see if the defect is there.
The fuser is the hot area of the machine in the exit area, If you can take a flash light and look in there and see if you observe wear or heavy toner buildup on a roller then obviously thats the problem.
