When you open the Freezer door the black metal decorative piece that runs the length of the door it very hot (where the door seals), also noted the same thing on the piece that runs on top of the freezer door. I also found that some items in the door and at the bottom of the freezer are thawing somewhat. Any ideas

The center divider is supposed to be warm/hot to prevent moisture from forming between the doors.

Frost forming on top/front panel in freezer side subzero 632

In your freezer section there are 2 door switches -- press each one. One turns off the light. The other turns ON the freezer evaporator fan. If the freezer compressor is running the evap fan should RUN when the switch is depressed. If not, the fan motor is defective OR the switch is defective. Easy to troubleshoot the switch - just pry it out with a screwdriver, short the terminals with a piece of insulated wire. If the fan runs, it's OK and the problem is the switch.

If it's the fan, it's not hard to replace. Get replacement motor, turn freezer control to off, remove food and shelves, then the back sheet metal panel. Fan is right behind the panel.

My Horpoint fridge freezer top drawer in freezer keeps freezing up and drawer is difficult to open.

Incorrect defrost cycle or your door seals are leaking.
To test the door seals, use a piece of news paper close the door with the news paper in between of the door and seal.
If you can pull it through really easy then the seal is at fault if not then check your cooling fan in the freezer section it should be running.

I have a Fisher Paykel E388 upright freezer which freezes in the bottom couple of drawers but not toward the top. The motor is running and fan spins when you open freezer but stops when door is opened. Any...

Cold air always settles on the bottom Check the door seals above the cold area . Check for broken seals ,cracked seals and seals that are not touching the frame. Place a thin piece of paper between the seal and the frame and close the door . If the paper falls or is easy to pull out that may be your problem. Test at various points around the door.

Front metal , top heating element very hot

This should be OK. There are heat strips placed behind the door frame to prevent sweating around the door frame due to the metal being cold normally without the strips. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Running continuously

Hello bxrjer,
Welcome,

You said, you have a FFU20FC6AW2 freezer that I have noticed is running continuously. Explains my $400 electric bill.

How old is the freezer?

The thermostat may be faulty.
But check out this list first.

If the black tubes running back and forth that carry the freon is under the freezer and behind the plastic grill down near the floor you may want to remove the grill cover and gently run a refrigerator brush across the coils. Ive seen them never cleaned and full of lint and dust 2 inches thick.
This is not good for the freezer or any refrigerator too!
They need to be clean so air can run across them or they over heat and get hot.
Room or outside weather is hot. It is normal for the freezer to work harder under these
conditions.

Reasons why Freezer may run too much or too long.

1.Freezer had recently been disconnected for a period of time. Freezer requires 4 hours to cool
down completely.
2.Large amounts of warm or hot food have been stored recently. Warm food will cause the
freezer to run more until the desired temperature is reached.
3.Door is kept open too long or too frequently. Warm air enters the freezer every time the door
is opened. Open the door less often.

4.Freezer door may be slightly open. (Freezer is not level. It rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly. This condition can force the cabinet out of square and misaligned the door.Freezer needs to be leveled if this occurs.
Floor is uneven or weak. Freezer rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly. Level the floor by using metal or wood shims under the freezer or brace floor supporting the freezer.

5.Temperature control is set too cold. Turn the control knob to a warmer setting. Allow several
hours for the temperature to stabilize.
6.Freezer gasket is dirty, worn, cracked, or poorly fitted. Clean or change gasket. Leaks in the
door seal will cause freezer to run longer in order to maintain desired temperature.

Door frame around freezer door is very hot for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer

The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel.
