Fridge Freezer errors COOLING Dust on the condenser coils can cause overheating, observe safety precautions then clean coils. Switch off the unit before you clean them. If the problem persists, test the compressor for overheating. Overheating will cause many problems with cooling ability. Leave the unit unplugged for 3 hours and plug it in again. If it starts working, the compressor is probably overheating (Observe cautions with food going bad). A simple cause of the problem might also be that there is not enough airflow Lack of airflow is the number one cause of compressor problems and thus an owner purchasing another unit for hundreds of dollars when you can fix it for free. There should be at least several inches distance between the sides and walls/cupboards/ceiling. Electrical There is an in-line fuse mounted in the line supplying the power to the ice-maker. It is in the wire clipped to the side, change out this fuse asap. It is actually a 20-amp fused, associated with the grounded electrical supply. PARTS You may order parts very cheap from here www.canadianappliance.ca/KBRS22KV.html TIME TO CHANGE YOUR FILTER While your on the back of the system, please check the filter. There is a filter in the back of the fridge in the upper right hand side. If you do not change it, it will slow down the frig and burn it out permanently.

Side by side Whirlpool in insulated cold garage ompressor seems to be running all the time, freezer not working fridge is warm

Sounds like low on freon. Some refrig. has a charging port. It may even say on name tag what type of freon to use. You need a guage to check if unit is low on freon.

Whirlpool frig. Freezer warm, frig seems ok.

Since the temperature is already 40°, the cold control is satisfied and will not run. Thus the freezer will warm up to 40°.

Fridge side works, but the freezer doesn't

Hi, there is a common fault with these side by side models, the electronics fail in many ways. The first sign of failure is either due to the compressor not working or the 'evaporator' (the cold bit) ices up and air can't pass through it to cool the freezer and fridge.
You can buy a kit to repair the boards for about £30 on ebay
Look for Whirlpool repair
An engineer would charge £200 +
Hope this helps

Side by side: freezer temperature fine, fridge too warm

sounds like your auto defrost isn't working. my maytag does same thing. the cooling core in the freezer is probably iced up. when it becomes solid ice no air(or very little) can pass by, leading to too little cold air reaching the fridge. you can try to cycle the temp levers(usually doesn't work) you can manually defrost the freezer. pull the cover off the back(inside freezer) and use a blow dryer. not sure how much parts are for whirlpool. hopefully this is just a one time thing. there are tests you can find to check some of the parts.like the heat element for the defroster, just search for the tests.

Does outside temperature affect performance of freezer

Top mount refrigerator installed in a garage and the food in the freezer is defrosting when
the temperature in the garage goes below 55 degrees fahrenheit.
On top mount refrigerators you cycle the compressor and fan/fans from the food
compartment temperature. When the room temperature gets colder than 55 F, you have
long off times waiting for the food compartment to warm enough to trip the cold control.
This long off time is allowing the freezer temperature to get high enough that food can start
to defrost.
There is a kit for refrigerators installed in applications where the temperature can go as low
as 34 F and still maintain good freezer temperatures. The kit part number is 5303918301
and it contains a heater that mounts in the control box and an instruction sheet advising
how to install the heater.
Kit 5303918301 contains:
Part # 5303950194 Instruction sheet
Part # 241532101 Heater
