Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Not clogged, dirt emptied, but gets hot and shuts off

This vacuum usually shuts off when the cylinder gets too full of dirt... then I empty the cylinder and it starts up again. But lately, it won't start after I empty the dirt. It feels very hot around the motor, and I have to let it sit 5 or 10 minutes before it will start. Then it only runs a few minutes before shutting down again. I checked all the tubes, cleared out hair from the brushes, washed and dried the sponge filter, but same problem. I even took out and looked at the "permanent filter" which looked pretty dirty but didn't know how or if I should try to clean it. Help! Thanks, Cyndi

Blows the dirt back out even when empty.

If it is blowing dirt out that usually indicates a clog or obstruction somewhere. You'll have to follow the airflow from the floor to find where the clog is at.

Lately as I'm vacuuming, my vacuum will turn off. I can start it again, and it will shut off again. It seems like a power issue. Happens different places in the home, so it is not the outlet.

Some vacs shut off when the dirt bag is full Check your brush area and see if there is dirt or bits of string like things wrapped around the brush or the brush ends. This will cause the machine to shut down as well if there is pressure holding the brushes. Will it run if you wiggle the plug if so you could have a bad plug as well.

My vacuum just stopped while I was vacuuming. It's a 6300 and I purchased it 2 months ago.

Some vacuums have a shutoff switch for then the dirt container gets full. Check that first. Empty or replace as needed and see if it runs again.

If it's still dead, take it back...

Do my Dirt Devil have a restart button it just stop running

Hi! No the vacuum doesn't have a restart button, but it does have a thermal protector that will shut the vacuum down when it is overheated. If your dirt cup was too full this will activate the thermal protector sensor. Clogs and dirty filters can cause this as well. We recommend emptying the dirt cup, tapping out the filter and checking the hose for clogs. The vacuum will come back on usually within 45 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps. Why vaccum not emptying

Hi! If no dirt is entering into the dirt cup it could be that you have a clog in your hose. Detach the hose from both ends and use a broom stick or something similar to carefully loosen and remove any clogs in the hose. Hope this helps! If not you can always reach out to us here on Fixya, Facebook.com/dirtdevil, or Twitter @DirtDevil. Thanks!

My dirt devil keeps shutting off randomly

It's overheating. Empty the cup and replace the filters. There's a breaker that opens up and turns it off when it gets too hot. When it cools down it closes back up and it will run again. It'll argue with you til the end of time or until you fix the problem.

Good Luck

Dyson DC14 animal shut down, now won't turn on

This coul;d be a couple thing, it could be that the machine is full and shut off due to a heat sensor. You should see if it has a reset button on it for the power head. I don't think it does so I would empty it out and clean the filter and try it again. Also did you try it in another plug in as you may have blown the breaker.also if the dirt container is not in just right it will not turn on as threre is a safety switch so it can not be run without the dirt container. Try these things and if you have npo luck write back and we will try again.

I can not get the dirt cup out to empty it.

Just slide the dark gray release tab, located just below the cup, all the way to open position, and then pull the Easy Empty Cup toward you.

your motor in the vacum is getting hot.Thats why it shuts off.Its fitted with a shut off switch to stop you doing any damage to it.1 The reason for getting to hot is that you are filling the cannister to full.Try emptying it half.good luck.
