Hi, I have a Samsung LN40A550 LCD TV which I have had for just over a year. ... I was watching TV yesterday and all of a sudden the picture went all. ... started makinga very high pitched buzzing sound with no picuture coming on. We did have a bunch of green vertical lines, but now just a black screen.
Other than taking the television to a repair shop not much can be done. I recommend a new television. Excellent brands are Sony, and Samsung. Both brands are quality televisions. Best of all you can order them on Amazon.com for lower prices.

static line at top is a problem with the broadcast input. many cable boxes and satellites create this because they dont quite fill the true resolution that the tv is capable of. the green splotches sound like overheating of the lcd lamps. id return it for a new one.
You almost certainly have a bad picture tube. The green screen was from one of the elements inside shorting out. The static sound you're hearing is the high voltage arcing out through the end of the picture tube to other parts inside the set. It's more economical to buy a new TV than to repair this one.
Sorry to have such good news, but this is one of the ways a picture tube can go bad, and it happens quite often.
as the top is ok and the bottom has this issue. It looks like the circuit board has a bad connection to your screen. it is not repairable by you and not an adjustment. you need to have it repaired. don't you miss the old wack on the side fix?
