My tv suddenly went black. I checked the connections, verified that the electrical out-let worked, and tried restarting it with the remote control
If you have not had any electrical storms lately, the power supply is the most likely candidate.
You might remove the back panel (after pulling the AC plug) to look for a user replaceable fuse if you find none exposed.
You didn't mention if the sound also died but if it did, the power supply is probably bad.
